Bollywood saw 214 films released last year – winners and losers together earned a grand total of Rs 2,938 crore. Of these earnings, Rs 1,660 crore (52.17%) came from the top 10 highest earning films of the year, according to a report in Bollywood Hungama.

Aamir Khan's Dangal made up 12.76% of last year's box office earnings. Akshay Kumar (Housefull 3, Airlift, Rustom) made up 12.41%, while Salman Khan came in third with 10.22% for Sultan.

There were six entries into the 100 Crore Club – Airlift, Rustom, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Housefull 3 and Shivaay. First time entrant Sushant Singh Rajput debuted in the club with MS Dhoni – The Untold Story.
