Akira Collection: As was hinted at by the occupancy rate, the opening day collection of Akira that stars Sonakshi Sinha in a role that sees her smash corrupt cops to goons on the loose in a vicious manner, has been able to generate a sum of Rs 5.15 crore. Girl power may be on show, but as the saying goes, jungle mein mor nachcha, to kisne dekha! (Bollywood Hungama)

Akira Collection: This was not really on the cards. Pre-release, Akira prediction was for something more substantial, at least a double-digit debut, that would beat last week's release A Flying Jatt handsomely. This was based purely on the content or quality of the film. Sonaskhi carried the film very well and really made for an excellent movie. It is a surprise it did not galvanise the masses to watch the movie, especially as Indian girls have been increasingly making a mark in various fields, the latest being Olympic Games at Rio. Akira Collection: If nothing else, girls were expected to go watch this feel-good, though chastising, film where a simple girl manages to hold off attacks on her and even give back in kind in as brutal a manner as possible. A girl-centric movie that is a call to action for all females and yet hardly any takers have been found in the fairer sex who will go out and watch the movie. A mystery, indeed. (Bollywood Hungama)

Akira Collection: Now that the opening day is done and dusted, will Akira rise up, as Sonakshi Sinha did in the film after her initial incarceration, or will it be all downhill? As can be imagined, much will depend on the word-of-mouth. From what those ho have watched the film are saying, Akira will get at the most a luke-warm boost from this. So, not a big amount is expected. (Bollywood Hungama)

Akira Collection: Having said that, Akira will definitely get better viewership on Saturday and Sunday will be even higher. However, Akira prediction is that it will go downhill from Monday. We would love to be proven wrong on this one, but that is the way the Akira cards have fallen as it is battling against odds that are more brutal and ferocious than even what Anurag Kashyap portrayed as ACP Rane.
