Dussehra is a festival that marks the victory of good over evil. It marks the killing of Ravana by Lord Ram in the epic Ramayana whose abiding lesson is to shun wrongdoing and for the people to take the path of righteousness. As per the epic, the King of Lanka, Ravana, had abducted the wife of Lord Rama, SIta, and taken her to his kingdom. Lord Ram followed and after an epic battle killed Ravan.
