AIB roast: Tanmay Bhat video mocks Lata Mangeshkar, Sachin Tendulkar draws Sena, BJP ire: The Shiv Sena and BJP today demanded action against AIB and comedian Tanmay Bhat for a video in which he allegedly mocked singing legend Lata Mangeshkar and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar – Mumbai police has asked Facebook and YouTube to block comedian Tanmay Bhat's video. Titled "Sachin v/s Lata Civil War", Tanmay is seen in the video taking jibes at the 86-year-old melody queen and the 43-year-old cricketing legend. The Sena asked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take stringent action against AIB and Bhat for allegedly seeking to vitiate social harmony through videos on Mangeshkar and Tendulkar. Party leader Neelam Gorhe has written to Fadnavis seeking action against those behind the video which she alleged was made by people with "deranged mentality". "Such people try to misuse the popularity of icons like Sachin and Lata tai for their own publicity," Gorhe said. Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar spoke to the Police Commissioner and requested that a police complaint be filed against Tanmay Bhat and AIB. (Image: IE)

2. Link between Robert Vadra, arms dealer, London house, says news report: Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, is being probed after Income Tax raids on controversial arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari revealed alleged links between the two and cryptic references to a London property, NDTV reported today. Citing a preliminary report prepared by the “Income Tax department and the Enforcement Directorate” following raids last month on 18 premises owned by Bhandari, NDTV said that emails were found which were allegedly sent by Vadra and his executive assistant, Manoj Arora, to London-based Sumit Chadda, a relative of Bhandari. NDTV said it couldn’t confirm the authenticity of these emails. (PTI)

3. Manohar Parrikar sees scam in garbage treatment: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said, "The garbage and sewerage treatment is a major scam area. Ninety per cent of the toilets built under Central government schemes goes into disuse after three to four years. Some people use these toilets to pile woodstock. Some people don't even use it for the purpose it is built. But no one can audit it. How can one audit whether toilet is functional or not without using it?" The Minister said garbage treatment has become a big business across the country. "There are vested interests in this sector…Comptroller and Auditor General audits everything but I have not seen the audit of the garbage treatment. Who will dare go in the dump of garbage?" he said. BJP chief Amit Shah to have meal with dalit family: As part of its plan to woo the dalits ahead of the UP assembly election in 2017, BJP president president Amit Shah will tomorrow have meal with a dalit family in one of the village in Sevapuri Assembly segment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi Varanasi lok sabha constituency. On his way to Allahabad from the Varanasi Airport tomorrow, Shah will make a small halt at Jogiyapur village in Sevapuri Assembly segment to share a meal with a dalit family, said BJP’s Eastern UP Media-Incharge Sanjay Bhardwaj. Shah is expected to share the afternoon meal in the village with Girjaprasad Bind and Ikbal Bind's family, who belongs to the dalit community, Bhardwaj said. (PTI) -

Narendra Modi receives call from Nawaz Sharif, wishes Pak PM well for heart surgery: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a call from his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif just before the latter was wheeled in for his open-heart surgery in a hospital in the UK tomorrow. During the telephonic talk, Modi wished Sharif a speedy recovery. "PM @narendramodi receives phone call from PM Nawaz Sharif just before Pak PM is wheeled in for surgery. Wishes him a speedy recovery," the spokesperson of the Ministry External Affairs Ministry Vikas Swarup tweeted. Modi had on Saturday extended best wishes to Sharif. "My best wishes to PM Nawaz Sharif Sahab for his open heart surgery on Tuesday. And for his speedy recovery & good health," Modi tweeted. (PTI)

Sushma Swaraj to help Pakistan girl to become doctor: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has assured help to a Pakistani teenaged girl, living in Jaipur for the last two years, in realising her dream of becoming a doctor. Nineteen-year-old Mashal Maheshwari, who moved to Jaipur from Hyderabad in Pakistan's Sindh province two years ago along with her parents, both of whom are doctors, wants to study medicine but could not sit for the medial entrance test as she is a Pakistani national. Mashal, a Hindu, had scored 91 per cent marks in her CBSE class XII examination this year. She was not allowed to appear for the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) as only NRIs and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) are allowed to take the test. After getting to know about Mashal's story, Swaraj reached out to her and assured that she will help her realise her dream. "Mashal – Don't be disappointed my child. I will personally take up your case for admission in a Medical College," Swaraj tweeted. (PTI)

Former AAP leader Anjali Damania makes fresh allegations against Eknath Khadse: Adding to the troubles of Maharashtra Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse, former Aam Aadmi Party leader Anjali Damania today levelled allegations against him with regard to irrigation projects. She threatened to stage a hunger strike in front of the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's residence from Wednesday evening if he did not sack the minister and initiate action. Addressing a press conference here, Damania also alleged that Khadse was in 'cahoots' with NCP leader and former Irrigation minister Ajit Pawar. The senior state BJP leader, when he was a minister in Shiv Sena-BJP Government in late 1990s, had conceived the Tapi Irrigation Development Corporation, and got awarded contracts to his relatives and supporters, she alleged. Damania also alleged that a plot purchased by Khadse's wife in April 2012 was not mentioned in Khadse's election affidavit in 2014, and the user (the stipulated purpose for which the land is to be used) was changed arbitrarily from educational purpose to residential. Haryana: Jats have assured June 5 dharna would be peaceful, says CM: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said Jat leaders have assured him of staging dharnas peacefully in the state on June 5. "We have had talks with them (the Jats) and they have assured us to hold dharnas in a peaceful manner. In a democratic set-up, everyone has a right to put his views in a peaceful manner. We cannot deprive them of that," Khattar said. Khattar said that representatives of Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti have assured him that they will be staging dharnas in a peaceful manner. He was talking to reporters on the sidelines of Union Minister Birender Singh's filing of nomination papers for the biennial Rajya Sabha polls. Members of the Jat community have threatened to launch fresh protests in the state for reservation and against lodging criminal cases on their leaders from June 5. (PTI)

10. 'No change in Jayalalithaa's political decency', says Karunanidhi: DMK chief M Karunanidhi today hit out at Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, asking if it was political decency to leave the state assembly when he was entering it to take oath as an MLA. Stating that there was "no change in Jayalalithaa's political decency," he said in a statement that senior DMK leader K Anbazhagan was made to sit in the sixth row when she was sworn-in as Chief Minister in 2002 and this year his son and party treasurer MK Stalin was also allotted a back-row seat. Karunanidhi was referring to Jayalalithaa leaving the assembly when he was entering it to take oath as an MLA on May 25. (PTI)
