Apple iPhone 6s device users have been facing continuous issues with the battery as their smartphones shut down unexpectedly even when there is some charge left. Apple has unveiled the exact reasons causing the issue with the iPhone 6s smartphones and the batteries, on its China website. The company’s support page for China clarifies hat the battery parts of the iPhone was “exposed to controlled ambient air longer than it should have been before being assembled into battery packs.” As a result, the batteries have started to degrade quicker than the normal phones which eventually lead to ‘unexpected shutdowns’. Apple has announced free battery replacement tools and programs for iPhone 6s users who are facing this problem.
However, Apple in the note says that there is no safety issue regarding this. This comes as a relief for the consumers as well as Apple itself, as Samsung had to stop the production of Galaxy Note 7 after the recent exploding batteries issue. Apple has apologised for the ‘inconvenience this has caused customers’, and on the website said that users can get their batteries replaced. The battery issue affects iPhones which were manufactured between September 2015 to October 2015 and was first reported in China itself. Apple will replace the batteries globally and the offer is valid till 3 years since the sale of the first product.

You can check out a page set up by Apple, “apple.com/in/support/iphone6s-unexpectedshutdown/”, where you can find the details of the new program under which there is the new tool which can be explored if the iPhone you have qualifies for the replacement. The new tool by Apple enables the user to enter the serial number of the smartphone and check it their iPhone is eligible. In a previous post by 9to5Mac, it put out information about the serial numbers on the list.
If you have an iPhone 6S and wish to find the serial number, you need to go to Settings>General>About. Go down to the serial number option. Enter that serial number on the Apple Support page and you will know if your iPhone is eligible for replacement or repair. Make sure you delete all your data before giving the phone for repairing and shut down the ‘Find my iPhone’ option also.
