Xiaomi India has launched the Redmi A4, an entry-level smartphone, with an aim to make 5G connectivity accessible to millions of users across the country. The Redmi A4 5G, which starts at Rs 8,499 with bank offers, boasts Qualcomm’s entry-level Snapdragon 4S Gen 2 processor and “all-day” battery life. It was first announced and showcased at the India Mobile Congress (IMC).
The Redmi A4 isn’t the only 5G phone in its segment. It isn’t the most affordable 5G phone either, like many would have assumed before today’s launch. Having said that, it is the most “feature-packed” 5G phone with “multiple segment-first features” at its price, or at least that is what Xiaomi claims.
The Redmi A4 5G “breaks new ground by delivering true 5G at a price point where such options are practically non-existent,” Xiaomi India CMO Anuj Sharma said in a prepared statement shared with the media. “This launch underscores our dedication to digital inclusion, empowering entry-level users to experience the true potential of 5G technology and setting a new benchmark for practicality and performance in the segment.”
Redmi A4 5G: India price, availability details
The Redmi A4 5G comes in a choice of 4GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB for Rs 8,499 and Rs 9,499 with offers. You will be able to buy it starting November 27 across Mi.com, Amazon, Xiaomi retail stores, and through Xiaomi retail partners.

Xiaomi says the Redmi A4 5G is made of glass and has IP52 rating making it resistant to splashes. There are two colours—Starry Black and Sparkle Purple.
The display is fairly large, at 6.88-inch. And it is fast, capable of refreshing at up to 120Hz. Resolution is 720p. Panel is LCD with a water-drop notch at the top. Xiaomi claims it can go up to 600 nits.
Under the hood, the Redmi A4 5G has the 4-nanometre Snapdragon 4S Gen 2 chip with an 8-core CPU with a maximum clock speed of 2GHz. RAM is of the LPDDR4x type and storage is UFS2.2. Software-wise, you get Xiaomi’s HyperOS based on Android 14 with two major OS and four years of security updates in pipeline. The battery is 5,160mAh with 18W charging support. The bundled charger is 33W for some reason.
For photography, it has a 50-megapixel main camera and another 5-megapixel for selfies on the front.
