Microsoft will release its next big Windows 11 update on September 26. The update, which is known as version 22H2, will include a number of new features and improvements, including a new AI-powered Windows Copilot feature, a new File Explorer, a new Ink Anywhere feature for pen users, and more.
The update will bring Windows Copilot to Windows 11. Windows Copilot is an AI-powered assistant that can help you with a variety of tasks, such as opening apps, finding files, and answering your questions. It will also bring Bing chat directly to Windows 11.
“Copilot will uniquely incorporate the context and intelligence of the web, your work data and what you are doing in the moment on your PC to provide better assistance – with your privacy and security at the forefront. It will be a simple and seamless experience, available in Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and in our web browser with Edge and Bing. It will work as an app or reveal itself when you need it with a right click,” says company.

As part of the new update, the File Explorer app has been redesigned with a new user interface. It will include new home, address bar and search box. File Explorer will also get a new Gallery feature designed to make it easy to access your photo collection.
Ink Anywhere is a new feature that allows you to use a pen or stylus to interact with apps and other content on your screen, even if the app doesn’t explicitly support pen input. The OS will convert your writing to text and use it where applicable.
The Paint app has been updated with new AI features for drawing and digital creation with the addition of background removal and layers as well as a preview of Cocreator that brings the power of generative AI to the Paint app.
The Photos app has been also been enhanced with AI including new features to make photo editing easy. With Background Blur you can make the subject of your photo stand out quickly and easily. The Snipping tool has also been updated. It now lets you extract specific text content from an image to paste in another application or, you can easily protect your sensitive information with text editing by using text actions on the post capture screen.
The Windows Backup application has been enhanced to now offer the convenience of backing up your computer precisely when you’re planning to switch to a new device. It will seamlessly transfer your current configurations to your new PC by utilising cloud backup.
In addition to these new features, the Windows 11 23H2 update will also include a number of bug fixes and performance improvements. The update will be available for download through the Windows Update service. Users can also manually download the update from the Microsoft website.
