WhatsApp is reportedly bringing voice message transcription in a future update. According to WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android v2.24.15.5 is adding voice message transcription to the popular cross-platform messaging service.

WhatsApp voice message transcription

The new proposed feature is expected to have been spotted in such development previously. It looks like the feature was previously limited to Google Messages on Pixel phones and to all Android devices. However, it appears this is now ready for primetime and rolling out in several other apps such as WhatsApp.

With the ‘message transcription’ the audio can be quickly analysed before a text chat box appears beneath the audio waveform. This allows you to get a quick analysis of the text that you are sending or receiving. Earlier selected Google Pixel phones had this feature. You would be able to get voice message transcriptions when using SMS, MMS or RCS messaging within Google Messages.

How does the feature work?

So how does the feature work in your WhatsApp. Given below is the details of how the feature will show in WhatsApp;

You may receive a pop-up when launching the app after updating.

To work in WhatsApp, you need to download a language pack or voice message transcription first.

Once you have done this, the audio is analysed before a transcript is produced.
