The Galaxy S24 series will launch globally on January 17, 2024, Samsung announced today. Interestingly, the “Galaxy Unpacked 2024” launch event is taking place in San Jose, not too far from Cupertino, Apple’s HQ. It could mean nothing, and yet something, even as Samsung promises to unleash the “most intelligent mobile experience yet” putting Generative AI at the heart of the upcoming Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra.
“Get ready to discover a new era full of possibilities with the latest Galaxy innovations, designed to transform how you live, connect and create,” Samsung said in a media invite sent over email, adding that “the new Galaxy S series will set a higher standard for the most intelligent mobile experience yet.”
While top-notch hardware is a given, the Galaxy S24 series is on course to get the first dibs at all the cool new technologies Samsung has been cooking up under its new Galaxy AI project. Features like Live Translate have been confirmed for these phones already and others, like Generative Edit could be in the pipeline according to online reports. But over and above that, we can expect Samsung to share more insight on how it plans to deploy AI responsibly.
As for the devices themselves, there is very little that we don’t know of, thanks to a barrage of leaks that frankly speaking are getting a little out of hand now. While unofficial channels are one thing, Samsung can’t seem to keep its official sale partners in check, too. Everything from their a price estimate to pre-order benefits to design and feature set has been leaked setting up the stage for all that’s —presumably— coming.

While Samsung is hosting an on-ground event to launch the Galaxy S24 series, a live stream will be available for view round the world on the company’s website, newsroom and YouTube channel. In India, it kicks off at 11:30 PM sharp. Stay tuned for more updates.
