Telegram, an instant messaging platform, introduced an update to its mini app ecosystem. On November 20, the instant messaging platform announced a bunch of updates named ‘Mini Apps 2.0′ version. The update includes a full-screen mode, home screen shortcuts, geolocation access, motion tracking and subscription plans, among others.The company claims that the update aims to enhance user experience. So, what does the update mean to you and what can you expect? Here’s the detailed look about the updated version:
- First you have the ‘full screen’ mode. Now mini apps can support full screen functionality. This is applicable for both landscape and portrait mode. This eventually brings you a more flexible viewing experience. In addition to this you can also be able to navigate complex gaming gesture controls.
- Then you have ‘device motion tracking.’ This feature allows mini apps to track the movement of the device. For example if you are playing a game and you need to rotate your screen, you can do so even if your screen is locked.The update can also provide you with a virtual reality (VR) experience, the company said.
- Next you have home screen shortcuts. This allows you to adjust the placement of the mini apps on your homescreen. Now you can access your favorite apps with just a click.
- Another update is the mini apps will get a new feature named ‘geolocation access.’ This will allow mini apps to ask for geolocation data. This can be more beneficial for location based games. Also you can have full access over your device privacy. Mini apps can only access your location after you approve the request.
- Now developers can monetise mini apps by using the new ‘subscription plans.’ By using the Telegram stars users can unlock premium features and content.You can also get rewards and an increased messaging limit.
- Mini apps can now also create documents which can be later downloaded and shared.
Other updates
In addition to the above features, you can also get media sharing, gifts from the mini apps and even share emojis as status within Telegram. You can also customize the loading screen of the mini apps through @BotFather.
Furthermore, mini apps can access basic hardware information such as processing power and memory capacity. This eventually allows apps to adjust settings for smoother experiences.
