Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 series of smartphones for global markets including India today during its Unpacked January 2025 event in San Jose, US and Bengaluru, India. The line-up boots three models, Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. As expected, the S25 Ultra gives you the most specs and a stylus, the S-Pen, while the S25 and S25 Plus options are for those seeking the latest and greatest of Samsung at relatively more affordable prices.
Galaxy AI, now in its second year, is one of the hottest features of these new Galaxy smartphones with Samsung throwing everything but the kitchen sink with features ranging from natural conversations to AI Agents, in close partnership with Google and Qualcomm. The idea is to offer AI that is akin to humans, turning these devices into thoughtful companions, that do everything from finding photos from the gallery, changing phone settings, even remove noise from videos, and much more—without even opening an app or typing in a query.
Samsung Galaxy S25 series — Specs, features, and more
In terms of hardware, the Galaxy S25 series is everything you’d expect a high-end Galaxy smartphone to be at this point, even if the S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra, are mostly incremental from a pure specs point-of-view. The big takeaway is that all the models now have a high-end Qualcomm chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, regardless of where you buy them from, India included. RAM now starts at 12GB across the entire line-up.
The S25 Ultra is brings the most upgrades from a slightly bigger 6.9-inch display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Armour 2, “the industry’s first scratch-resistant, anti-reflective glass ceramic cover material for mobile devices.” The back uses the same material. The frame sticks with Grade 2 Titanium. Another big change is that the S25 Ultra is about 15 percent thinner than the S24 Ultra. The S-Pen lacks Bluetooth or a battery. The ultrawide gets a more powerful 50MP sensor with autofocus and so, it can double as a macro, too. The phone can also record 10-bit HDR and LOG videos.
The rest of the package is consistent with last year—2K LTPO AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness; 200MP wide, 50MP 5x periscope telephoto, 10MP 3x telephoto, and a 12-megapixel camera for selfies; 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired, 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse charging.
The S25 has a 6.2-inch display, the S25 Plus, 6.7-inch both LTPO AMOLED with up to 120Hz refresh rate. The S25 Plus has a 1440p resolution while the S25 is 1080p. Both phones have Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back along with an aluminum frame. The camera setup is as follows: 50-megapixel wide, 10-megapixel 3x telephoto, and 12-megapixel ultrawide; and 12MP selfie. The S25 Plus has a 4,900mAh battery while the S25 has a 4,000mAh with the former supporting 45W wired and 15W wireless charging, and latter, 25W wired and 15W wireless.
Samsung is offering the Galaxy S25 Ultra in a choice of Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Black, Titanium Whitesilver and Titanium Gray. Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus will be available in Navy, Silver Shadow, Icyblue and Mint.
