Reliance Jio has taken over as the mover and shaker in the telecom sector and it is still going strong. Along with abundant offers, the newbie in the telecom sector has managed to force rival companies to drop their prices. This stir in the market has benefitted customers the most. With telcos engaged in a pricing war, the price segment of Rs 500 seems to be the best bet for the customers who look for top prepaid plans. As of now, almost every prepaid plan on offer brings free data and unlimited voice calling. But with the range of Rs 500, the quest is to provide the maximum benefits possible.
In a recent revamp, most of the telcos who were providing 1GB data per day have bumped up their offer with 50 per cent more data. That means 1.5GB daily data is on offer. For New Year 2018, Reliance Jio came out with ‘Happy New Year 2018’ recharge offer which provides 28GB of data for 28 days at a meager price of Rs 149. However, it should be noted that the offer is on until January 9.
At the Rs 500 range, Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance Jio offer very similar plans. All the telecom players bring in unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calls and free data with free SMSs but its the validity that matters. Jio’s Rs 448 plan offers 126GB data with a validity of 84 days, i.e. 1.5GB data per day. However, with a rupee more, at Rs 449 Jio is offering 1GB data per day for 91 days. Just Rs 2 shy of Rs 500, 136GB data can be fetched from Jio for a validity of 91 days, i.e. 1.5GB data per day.
To give a tough competition to Reliance Jio, Airtel has recently upgraded its validity of Rs 448 and Rs 509 plans. Previously what came with a 70-day validity. Airtel’s Rs 448 plan now has 82 days worth of time on its hand. Along with the bumped up validity, the users get unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS and 1GB worth of data every day. A total of 82GB data is on offer with this plan.
Airtel has another plan under its kitty. With a recharge of Rs 509, every plan that was on offer under Rs 448 plan is there, however, the plan now has a 91 days validity. However, there is a catch on offer from Airtel, under its terms and conditions, the daily cap on the voice calls make it restricted to 300 minutes per day and 1200 minutes per week. Airtel’s Rs 549 plan brings 84GB data for 28 days, that translates to 3GB data per day. The similar free calling and SMS features are on offer with this one.
The third major pillar in the telco price war is Vodafone. At Rs 458, Vodafone users can catch 1GB 3G/4G data for 70 days. Some of the other benefits on offer are unlimited local and STD calls, 100 SMS per day. However, it should be noted that Vodafone has put brakes on the calling facility at 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week.
With Rs 509, Vodafone will fetch you 1GB data per day for 84 days. Similar benefits and conditions are in play with this plan that was seen on Rs 458 plan.
