Google launched Pixel 8 series—Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro at its Made by Google event on October 4. The new Pixel phones, especially Pixel 8 Pro, come with a plethora of AI-enabled features.

The centre of the show has been Pixel 8 Pro’s camera capabilities. The phone boasts a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary lens, a 64MP ultrawide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens on the rear side. But this was just the hardware; Pixel 8 Pro’s unique selling point is its camera software coupled with AI integration, and several other features to make the shot come to life brilliantly.

However, the much-blabber came to a halt after a user on X shared that all those Google Pixel 8 Pro “exclusive” camera features can be accessed and used on all Google Tensor chipset-enabled Pixel phones by simply installing the latest Google Camera’s APK file.

In the 24-second video shared on X, the user (@Za_Raczke) can be seen using a Pixel 7 Pro and adjusting the camera controls. It doesn’t end here; in the next post, he explains that these features are Pixel 8 Pro exclusive and “not even the regular 8 gets it.”

User also added their impression of using the feature on a non-Pixel 8 Pro device. They said, “It gives a lot of control to the user with a tap, while still giving that “shoot and forget” experience when needed. There’s also the same excellent HDR+ processing as always, both in Pro and auto modes.”

Google has limited this feature exclusively to the Pixel 8 Pro, and the user writes, “It’s a real shame” adding that, “Google’s limiting the feature to the 8 Pro – it’s not like there’s anything to justify the decision, it’s simply an artificial software lock to force users who want the feature to get a more expensive phone.”
