The upcoming Phone 2a Plus will be a beefed-up version of the Phone 2a, Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis confirmed today. It will offer more processing power with minimal hardware design changes. These changes will be on a cmf (colour, material and finish) level, he added.
“With Phone 2a Plus, we had the opportunity to create a beefed-up version for savvy users who demand more processing power, and we also made some improvements that didn’t require hardware design changes. Finally, we wrapped it up with a new kick-ass variant that reflects these upgrades,” Akis posted on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.
Nothing called it an “extraordinary new smartphone” while announcing the Phone 2a Plus. Today’s reveal doesn’t directly confirm or deny if it’s using a brand new processor in the Phone 2a Plus. As for visual changes, we can expect a choice of new colours. More details are awaited. The phone is set for India launch on July 31, 2024.
The announcement of the Phone 2a Plus comes shortly after the launch of the “Phone 2a Special Edition.” This special edition, designed by the Nothing Industrial Design Team in King’s Cross, London, boasts a vibrant integration of primary colours—red, yellow, and blue. The Phone 2a Special Edition features 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and is priced at Rs 27,999.
Even before that, it had launched the Phone 2a in a striking blue colourway.
In addition to launching new models, Nothing is engaging its community through a contest to design a special edition of the Phone 2a. The winning design will be produced and sold, reflecting Nothing’s commitment to interactive product development. This approach has already proven successful, with the Phone 2a selling 100,000 units within the first 24 hours of its release. The base model is priced at Rs 23,999.
