The Passport Seva Portal faced major server outages on Thursday and Friday, leading to significant disruptions at Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) nationwide. Users from cities including Delhi, Bhopal, and Thane shared their frustrations on X, citing sudden appointment cancellations and extended wait times. Frustrated users turned to social media platform X to voice their grievances, highlighting poor communication from officials and the difficulty of securing new appointments on short notice. Many shared late-night screenshots of cancellation alerts, while others reported arriving at PSKs only to find locked gates and no staff available to assist.
X user Mehul Kothari shared that his children’s passport appointments were abruptly cancelled at midnight—marking the second such occurrence in just two months. Meanwhile, another applicant, Vidya Nand Rai, posted a photo of a printed notice pasted on the shuttered PSK, pointing out that no SMS, email, or phone call had been made to inform visitors about the disruption.

@passportsevamea Message received “Dear Applicant, your appointment for PSK/POPSK has been suspended due to Technical issue. Request you to reschedule appointment as per your convenience. -PassportSP”. Is the passport office going to pay me a penalty for this instance?

No SMS, email or ph call regarding this to applicant …even people came to reach only after seva kendra. Gate is locked & no one is available pic.twitter.com/pRk62GSoig

This isn’t the first time such a breakdown has happened. A comparable server failure took place in April, causing Passport Seva Kendras nationwide to halt operations for two consecutive days, leading to unexpected cancellations and service delays.
