OnePlus has announced a new initiative to tackle the persistent green line issue on AMOLED displays. Dubbed the “OnePlus Green Line Worry-Free Solution”, the program includes advanced display technology, rigorous quality control, and an unprecedented lifetime warranty for all OnePlus smartphones sold in India.
“OnePlus was the first brand to respond to this industry-wide issue with technological solutions,” said Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India. “We are the first to offer a lifetime warranty in India, showcasing our confidence in our technology and user-first approach.”
Fix for green line issue
To address environmental challenges like heat and humidity, OnePlus has introduced the Enhanced Edge Bonding Layer using PVX materials. These materials improve durability by resisting moisture and oxygen penetration, significantly reducing the likelihood of green lines appearing over time. All AMOLED displays are prone to this issue but OnePlus is the first to address it at a big scale, committing to making its new technology available across all segments.
On QC, OnePlus says it is subjecting its devices to over 180 tests, including the “Double 85” test, which exposes displays to 85°C temperatures and 85% humidity. These tests simulate real-world conditions to guarantee reliability helping minimise display issues from the ground up.
Lifetime warranty: A bold commitment
In a first for the smartphone industry, OnePlus is extending a lifetime warranty against green line issues to all its models, old and new. This move ensures every OnePlus user enjoys peace of mind, reflecting the brand’s confidence in its product quality.
“With this step, we reaffirm our dedication to delivering a worry-free experience throughout the lifespan of our devices,” Liu added.
The OnePlus Green Line Worry-Free Solution is part ot Project Starlight, a Rs 6,000 crore initiative, aimed to accelerate innovation in India over the next three years. The investment is earmarked to improve the durability of devices and introduce features exclusively tailored for the India market while ramping customer service and after-sales support. The announcements come just days ahead of the OnePlus 13 launch, which is set for January 2025.
