A few days from now, a rumour broke out that OnePlus was launching a speaker in India. The basis of all the speculation was OnePlus’s own advertisement in a popular news daily that featured the silhouette of a party speaker. The company naturally followed it up by a string of promotional campaigns across its social media handles to hype the impending announcement.
One was led to believe that OnePlus was prepping some sort of speaker, but truth be told, it didn’t make any sense, at a time when news about the company silently exiting the smart TV market has— also— been flying around. Today, OnePlus laid all speculation to rest by confirming that, that marketing blitzkrieg had nothing to do with any new hardware and certainly not a speaker. Instead, it was to hype an initiative that it is calling the OnePlus AI Music Studio.
In a press release sent out to the media, the company describes the OnePlus AI Music Studio as “a transformative space where artistic dreams take flight” that will seemingly provide “an immersive environment for music enthusiasts to explore their creative potential.”
In essence, it’s a website created largely for the OnePlus community to come, sign-up, and create music using artificial intelligence, which is to say, they’ll be able to “produce” tracks through prompts. OnePlus doesn’t categorically mention if it has partnered with any third-party for the platform’s AI smarts or, it’s doing it all in-house at the time of writing.
What it is saying though is that the OnePlus AI Music Studio will allow users to “craft lyrics, seamlessly blend them with AI-generated beats,” and “witness their musical vision come to life, bridging the gap between technology and artistry.”
The platform supports “an array” of genres including rap, hip-hop, and EDM. Shortlisted entries will not only be featured on the website but will also stand a chance to win coupons that will be redeemable for products on OnePlus’ website. As for those waiting for OnePlus to release their maiden speaker, there’s some more waiting to go. Watch this space for more updates.
