OnePlus 12 vs OnePlus 11 — what’s different?

OnePlus 12, the next big flagship, from the house of OnePlus, has officially arrived in India all guns blazing.

OnePlus 12, the next big flagship (or flagship killer, is it?) from the house of OnePlus, has officially arrived in India all guns blazing. The company has launched its Samsung Galaxy S24 challenger, OnePlus 12, at a starting price of Rs 64,999. The 12 bags significant updates in specs including 2x storage at the base level over the OnePlus 11. But then, the OnePlus 12 also costs Rs 8,000 more at the entry-level, so, that’s something to keep in mind also.

The design maybe the same, mostly, but build materials are new. The IP rating has been tweaked. The new phone has Qualcomm’s fastest chip at the time of writing and wireless charging. The display gets bigger and brighter while the primary and secondary cameras are getting new sensors and more powerful lenses. And the front camera can now record 4K videos. The 12 also has a faster USB Type-C port and a slight leg up in connectivity with Bluetooth 5.4.

OnePlus 12, OnePlus 11 compared— every difference that you wanted to know:

  1. OnePlus 12 design is an evolution and continuity of OnePlus 11, OnePlus says. Ergonomically speaking, the OnePlus 12 comes in at 220g and 9.2mm. You’ll be able to get it in green and black. The back of the phone is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5, the frame is all metal (same as the OnePlus 11). The OnePlus 12 has an IP65 water and dust resistance rating. The OnePlus 11 in comparison was 205g and 8.56mm depending on the version and came with IP64.
  2. The OnePlus 12 has a bigger 6.82-inch 1440p LTPO AMOLED display. In theory, it offers a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. It has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 screen protection. You also get “aqua touch”, tech to prevent ghost touches when the screen is exposed to water splashes. Support for 2,160Hz PWM dimming is also available. The OnePlus 11, in comparison, came with a 6.7-inch 2K 120Hz LTPO AMOLED screen with Corning Gorilla Victus protection and up to 1,300 nits of peak brightness.
  3. The OnePlus 12 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 while the OnePlus 11 had the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
  4. The OnePlus 12 comes in a choice of 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB in India. The OnePlus 11 came in a choice of 8GB/128GB and 16GB/256GB.
  5. The OnePlus 12 is backed by a 5,400mAh battery and supports 100W fast wired and 50W wireless charging. The OnePlus 11 came with a 5,000mAh battery with 100W fast wired charging only.
  6. The OnePlus 12 has a triple camera setup with a 50-megapixel main Sony LYT-808 sensor, 48-megapixel Sony IMX581 sensor behind an ultrawide lens and another 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B sensor behind a 3x periscope telephoto lens. The OnePlus 11’s triple camera setup had a 50MP Sony IMX890 main sensor, 48MP Sony IMX 81 behind an ultrawide-angle lens, and 32MP 2x telephoto with RGBW arrangement for portraits.
  7. The OnePlus 12 has a 32-megapixel front camera while in the case of the OnePlus 11, it was 16MP.
  8. The OnePlus 12 has Bluetooth 5.4 and USB Type-C port with version 3.2 gen 1 while the OnePlus 11 came with Bluetooth 5.3 and USB Type-C version 2.0.
  9. The OnePlus 12 runs OxygenOS 14 out of the box with Android 14 as the base while the OnePlus 11 came with OxygenOS 13 at launch.
  10. The OnePlus 12 comes in a choice of 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB for Rs 64,999 and Rs 69,999. The OnePlus 11 was Rs 56,999 for 8GB/128GB and Rs 61,999 for 16GB/256GB.
