OnePlus 12 launch date has officially been announced. OnePlus has taken to its Weibo channel to confirm the OnePlus 12, its next top-shelf flagship smartphone, will make its debut on December 4, 2023. OnePlus, as expected, is kicking off the proceedings with its home market which is to say that the OnePlus 12 is launching first in China. It should land in global markets, including in India, soon enough.
OnePlus is marking its ten-year anniversary this year. The brand was founded in 2013 with Carl Pei and Pete Lau at helm. Pei left the company in 2020 to start a new hardware venture called Nothing, following which OnePlus was merged with Oppo to streamline product and software with an aim to deliver a more polished experience to end-users even if it came at the cost of irking the enthusiast customer, which was once its primary focus. Anyhow, the OnePlus 12 launch is coinciding with its ten-year anniversary celebrations and so, one can expect quite a star-studded event.
OnePlus has already started hyping the OnePlus 12. The OnePlus 11 successor is confirmed to come with Qualcomm’s brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 2K LTPO OLED display sourced from BOE. For photography, it will come with a custom Sony LYTIA dual-layer stacked CMOS primary sensor and another 64-megapixel periscope zoom camera, OnePlus has revealed. The Hasselblad tuning is a given, too.
The OnePlus 11 was launched in China in January 2023 followed by a global release soon after. Clearly, the OnePlus 12 launch is happening a bit earlier than usual. OnePlus is also tipped to launch the OnePlus Ace 3 alongside, which will be expected to be made available under the name of OnePlus 12R in markets like India. Specs of the OnePlus Ace 3 remain a mystery at the time of writing, but with the launch date announcement done and dusted, we can expect more details to follow in the coming days.
