Nothing is gearing up to launch its next smartphone, the Phone 2a Plus, barely a few days after launching the CMF Phone 1. Announced unexpectedly today, the Phone 2a Plus is set for an official release on July 31, 2024.

“Nothing will launch its new device on July 31, 2024, hinting that an extraordinary new smartphone is coming,” the company stated in a press release. The announcement on social media teases the new model with the tagline “Plus.More.Extra.” However, details about the specifications and design of the Phone 2a Plus remain under wraps for now.

This announcement follows closely on the heels of the launch of the “Phone 2a Special Edition.” This special edition model, crafted by the Nothing Industrial Design Team in King’s Cross, London, features a vibrant design celebrating primary colours. Integrating red, yellow, and blue into a single piece of hardware for the first time, this edition highlights the significance of these hues within Nothing’s brand identity. Historically, red has been a staple in the right earbud of all Nothing audio products, yellow was introduced with the new Ear a, and blue debuted with the Phone 2a Blue edition.

The Phone 2a Special Edition is equipped with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and it is priced at Rs 27,999.

In addition to launching new models, Nothing is engaging its community through a contest to design a special edition of the Phone 2a. The winning design will eventually be brought to market, reflecting Nothing’s interactive approach to product development. The Phone 2a has proven to be a significant product for the company, with Nothing reporting sales of 100,000 units within the first 24 hours of its release. The base model is priced at Rs 23,999.
