If you use an Amazon Fire TV Stick to stream Netflix, you could encounter issues soon. From June 2, 2025, some older Fire TV Stick models will lose support for streaming apps, including Netflix. Consequently, users with these outdated devices will no longer have access to Netflix after that date. The impacted devices consist of the 2014 Amazon Fire TV, the 2014 Fire TV Stick, and the 2016 Fire TV Stick equipped with the Alexa Voice Remote.

Netflix will discontinue app support on certain devices:

Netflix has informed Amazon Fire TV users that it will discontinue app support on certain devices. As a result, if you own a first-generation Fire TV streaming device or Fire TV Stick along with its remote, the Netflix app will no longer be supported starting June 2, according to Tom’s Guide.

The email says, “According to our usage data, you have used Netflix on a first-generation Fire TV streaming media player in the past 12 months. Netflix will discontinue support for these streaming media players on June 2, 2025.”

Netflix has yet to release an official explanation for the app discontinuation, but analysts suggest it is due to advancements in streaming technology, especially the adoption of the AV1 codec, which offers improved video quality while using less bandwidth.

Netflix has revealed an exciting slate of content for June 2025, offering a blend of timeless movies, fresh series, documentaries, and returning favorites.

The lineup includes classic films like Rear Window (1954), The Devil’s Own (1997), and Us (2019).

New original series set to debut include Sara: Woman in the Shadows and Power Moves with Shaquille O’Neal.

Key Show Returns and Premieres

On June 5, fan-favorites such as Barracuda Queens (Season 2), Ginny & Georgia (Season 3), and Tires (Season 2) will make their comeback. The following day, June 6, will introduce new series like The Survivors (Season 1) and the limited series Mercy for None. Other anticipated releases include FUBAR (Season 2) arriving on June 12 and Kings of Jo’burg (Season 3) on June 13. Additionally, the Indian thriller Rana Naidu, featuring Rana Daggubati, is set to return with its second season on June 13.
