Google is betting big on Chromebooks and is rolling out a user-friendly certification. As someone whom tech excites, but doesn’t necessarily gets it; this certification comes as a boon, “Chromebook Plus”.
What is Chromebook Plus?
Pretty similar to the Intel Evo program for Windows PCs, Google will now help buyers identify high-quality Chromebooks. It will be awarded to Chromebook-based laptops that meet a set of requirements.
The requirements for a laptop to have “Chromebook Plus” certified include, must have:

- An Intel Core i3 12th Gen or above, or AMD Ryzen 3 7000 series or above
- 8GB, or more RAM
- 128GB, or more internal storage
- 1080p+ with Temporal Noise Reduction webcam
- Full HD IPS or better display
The Verge’s Monica Chin pointed out that the press release doesn’t talk about a minimum required battery life or a number followed by unit mAh that a Chromebook must’ve in order to have “Chromebook Plus” certification. The reporter reached out to a Google spokesperson, and the company confirmed that all Chromebooks are required to meet a minimum of 10 hours of battery backup.

Does Chromebook Plus have any exclusive features?
Chromebooks that receive the “Chromebook Plus” certification gain exclusive AI-powered features, such as a magic eraser tool in Google Photos, improved video conferencing lighting and noise cancellation, and Offline File Sync.
More exciting features are in development, like AI-generated wallpapers and a personal writing assistant. Plus, users get a three-month subscription to Photoshop on the Web and three months of GeForce Now’s priority tier.
