Elon Musk has introduced a new feature for xAI Grok chatbot that makes it incredibly easy to convert AI-generated images to videos. The new capability allows users to transform any static image into an animated video clip through a simple long-press action on the image, followed by a customisable text prompt.

xAI recently made Grok 4 accessible to all users worldwide via the X platform and its standalone mobile apps. While the basic functionality, including the new image-to-video tool, is now free, this tier includes certain restrictions, such as daily limits on queries. Users seeking enhanced performance, faster response times, extended context length, and access to more powerful SuperGrok modes still require a premium subscription, such as the X Premium+ plan.

Musk demonstrated the feature on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting Grok’s expanding feature list beyond text generation into creative, AI-powered visual media. The demo featured a playful transformation, with Musk’s prompt specifying “add a boyfriend and they transition into muppets.”

With a simple touch gesture for converting images into videos, Grok now makes it easy for its users to quickly utilise its capabilities for trying out its video rendering capabilities without having to go through complex AI prompts.

How to convert an image to video with Grok instantly

The process revealed by Elon Musk simplifies complex AI video generation into two fluid steps. But before that:

– Head over to the Grok app or the website version.

– Give Grok a prompt to generate any image. You can also upload one of your existing images to tweak it with AI.

– Once you have a resultant image, you can do the following steps:

Long Press: Simply long-press on any image within the Grok interface on the X platform (or Grok app). The gesture will enable Grok to animate the image immediately, just like the Live Photos feature on iOS photo gallery.

Customise Prompt: A menu or prompt box will appear, allowing the user to customise the text prompt to describe the desired animation, action, or transformation for the video.
