Google Keep is set to elevate the note-taking experience with its upcoming handwritten notes feature, as revealed in version 5.24.422.02.90. This new capability is particularly exciting for users who thrive on visual creativity and often capture ideas through sketches and doodles. With this update, Google Keep is set to become an essential tool for artists, students, and professionals alike.

The handwritten notes feature allows users to combine handwriting, images, and text, creating a versatile platform for brainstorming and idea generation. The integration works seamlessly with both styluses and touch screens, making it ideal for devices like tablets and foldables.

In practical terms, the new feature includes various user-friendly tools. Users can expect to find a simple interface where they can draw, write, and add images with ease. A new Material 3 slider enables customisation of stroke width, allowing for precision in handwriting and doodles. Additionally, a refreshed colour picker enhances the creative process, enabling users to add vibrant touches to their notes.

There are introductory prompts such as “Keep floating notes.” This functionality allows users to capture ideas on-the-go by simply clicking a stylus. The convenience of collecting information via the screenshot tool makes it easier to save thoughts from any source, whether it’s an article, a website, or even a video.

Another prompt is the “Keep lock screen notes,” which lets users jot down thoughts directly from their lock screen. This functionality ensures that fleeting ideas are not lost, as Keep saves each new note automatically. For those who prefer to consolidate their notes, a setting allows users to keep the same note visible each time they access the lock screen.

The new handwritten notes will feature a grid layout, separate from the existing drawing format, providing a cleaner and more organized canvas. Users will have the option to choose from various backgrounds, including small or large dots, ruled lines, and even the choice of no lines at all. This customisation caters to diverse preferences, whether you’re sketching a detailed illustration or writing a simple note.

Once your handwritten notes are complete, exporting them as PDFs offers a practical solution for sharing ideas with colleagues, classmates, or clients. This feature not only enhances collaboration but also preserves the visual integrity of your notes, making them suitable for professional presentations or sharing in academic settings. In addition to the handwritten notes, Google Keep is also revamping its home screen for a more intuitive user experience, though the details of this redesign remain unknown.
