With the ongoing debate of ‘AI Vs Humans,’ Peter Thiel shows some ray of hope about humans still being at the forefront of AI. Peter Thiel believes that the expansion of artificial intelligence will be “worse” for math aficionados and not wordsmiths.

Peter Thiel, the billionaire, seems to share his explanation on the latest episode of “Conversations with Tyler.” During the Conversations with Tyler podcast, Peter Thiel, the former CEO of PayPal said, “People have told me that they think within the next 3-5 years, AI models would be able to solve all the US maths olympiad problems,” adding that the future is worse for people in maths than words.

AI to win or loose?

Peter Thiel further explains that “The Silicon Valley in the 21st century is way too biased towards the maths people.”

During the interview with Tyler, Thiel  explained that the exact reason for ‘AI being not able to overtake human creativity,’ is not clear.  However, he explains that “But that’s the thing that seems deeply unstable and that’s what I would bet on getting worse.”

AI Vs Humans!

With the advent of tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot, everyone seems to be increasingly becoming a developer without needing to learn maths. This eventually results in democratising access to fields that once required deep knowledge of the subject.

From what it is understood, as the development of AI in different sectors continues, experts are giving different Povs about AI. Recently, Musk mentioned that AI might take away jobs. Another use case include, ‘Godfather of  AI’ Geoffrey Hinton saying that the government will have to establish a universal basic income to deal with the impact of AI on inequality.

Contrary to this, “AI is not yet good at maths, though its capabilities are increasing. Recently, ChatGPT with the Wolfram plug-in scored a 96% in the UK A-level paper for maths, which is an essential qualification to get into the AI field,” Thiel concluded.
