Apple is planning to make an upgraded version of its HomePod, says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. In his ‘Power On Newsletter’, he said that Apple can use a new operating system named homeOS. He also said that the tech giant is planning to create something similar to Apple TV’s tvOS.

The rumoured device, should be somewhat like an iPad with a ‘display’ capable of controlling home appliances. Here’s a detailed look about the product.

Apple Intelligence in your home

According to the Gurman, Apple is planning to bring a ‘smart-display,’ like product. This ‘display’ can have the ability to control home-appliances and Facetime. Also it is expected that the product can run daily apps such as notes, home and calendar, among others. But the most important upgrade expected is the addition of Apple Intelligence. As the current ‘home devices’ lineup of Apple lacks Apple Intelligence, the update is going to be a big achievement.

Gurman explained that with Apple Intelligence, you will be able to look over your home even if you are far away from home. You can also control the devices far from home. For example, in case you have forgotten to switch off the lights. You can do this task with the rumoured ‘Apple Intelligence-powered display.’ Furthermore, “I expect both of the operating systems to ultimately get combined and run on every Apple home device,” Gurman highlighted in his newsletter.

Other rumours suggest that the product will get an A18 chip. However, as of now it’s not clear if this chip will be the A18 Pro found on the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the 16 Pro. The device is also expected to have gesture recognition controls.

Other updates

A few months back in July, MacRumors reported that Apple is working on a home accessory in addition to the HomePod and Apple TV. It had identified a code. The code had showcased references to a device with the identifier “HomeAccessory17,1.” Reportedly, this was a new identifier category. Now, back to the present time, Gurman also supports the rumours.

In other news, findings show that Apple is testing advanced health-monitoring features in future AirPods models, says 9to5Mac. These features will be added to iOS 18. This feature will be specifically made for the AirPods Pro 3 and the next generation of Powerbeats Pro. According to 9to5Mac, these upcoming earbuds will have a heart-rate sensor. These sensors will have the ability to measure heartbeat during workouts and then sync the data with Apple Health.
