The Flipkart Big Billion Days 2025 sale is here and is expected to help the e-commerce firm conduct business worth billions of dollars. Be it smartphones or laptops, cosmetics or clothing, the Flipkart Big Billion Days 2025 sale is putting everything on sale with substantial discounts. However, in order to keep the sale event going on uninterrupted by any sort of technical glitch and problems, Flipkart seems to be exercising extreme measures to keep its customers happy, which may be causing inconvenience to its employees.
A video shared by a Flipkart employee on social media shows mattresses and pillows being delivered to the company’s Bengaluru office ahead of the sale event. While the employee shared these photos for a candid glimpse into intense preparations for the annual Big Billion Days sale, it has also sparked a heated debate online on toxic work culture.
Flipkart employee shares viral video ahead of Big Billion Days sale
The video, posted on Instagram by a Flipkart marketing executive, shows bedding and pillows being unloaded from a truck with the on-screen text, “POV: It’s gonna be a longggg weekend.” In the caption, the employee also confirmed, “Yes, we do night stays in the office,” which affirms that long hours are a standard, albeit demanding, part of the job.
The clip quickly went viral, attracting a wide variety of reactions from social media users. Many criticised the company, accusing it of promoting a “toxic work culture.” One user commented, “Glorifying toxic work culture is a flex these days,” while another questioned the necessity of such long hours, asking, “Why so much work? Do you manually update prices every hour?”
Other critics suggested that the company should compensate employees for their extra efforts. “Putting a song on a Reel doesn’t cover up toxic culture, start paying employees for overtime,” one person wrote. The lack of proper hygiene was also raised as a concern, with a user pointing out, “0 hygiene, pillows are carried just as it is without any protective cover.” Another user wrote, “And you are proud of this? Smirking with goggles? We should not promote this culture of labour work.”
Flipkart employee deletes video later
Hours after the virality of the video, the marketing executive removed the video from their social media timeline. The vast number of negative comments could have led the individual and the company to withdraw the post.
That said, not all reactions were negative. One user wrote, “We are doing the same for the last 4 days, but behind every sleepless night lies the blueprint of tomorrow’s success.”
