Your beloved ChatGPT will be available to Windows soon. On October 17, OpenAI announced in an official blog that ChatGPT app will be available for Windows desktop. After its launch ChatGPT gained a huge fan following. So, to extend this popularity, it will make it available for Windows desktop too.

ChatGPT coming to Windows desktop
The ChatGPT desktop app was earlier available for Mac users.After receiving a positive response, it now aims to roll out it for Windows users. The company says that now it aims to gain more customers. Also, it aims to make artificial intelligence (AI) accessible to more people.
OpenAI’s constant expansion into desktop environments could mean a potential shift in the enterprise software landscape. Looks like the company might be planning to bring ChatGPT as a fundamental productivity tool for businesses.
OpenAI further highlighted in a blog, that there could be a time when ChatGPT will be the new operating system (OS) for the coming generations. With AI being adopted on a large scale by every organization, this dream of OpenAI might come true!
What it means for you
With the Windows app, you will be able to quickly launch ChatGPT just with an Alt + Space shortcut. Please note that, if you are not a ChatGPTplus user, then you won’t be able to get this feature. Apart from that, ChatGPT for Windows will also be able to analyze files, images and do nearly everything a smartphone app or web version can do. In addition to this, OpenAI will introduce its Advanced Voice Mode in the Windows version.
As of now the feature is not available for all. It’s currently available in preview to ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Edu subscribers. This allows you to access the AI assistant through a keyboard shortcut (Alt + Space) from anywhere on your PC. So, how do you install the desktop version after it gets rolled out? Here’s how you can:
- First you need to visit the https://openai.com/chatgpt/download/.
- Now you need to click on the option which will read ‘Test an early version of the Windows app’
- After that you will get redirected to the Microsoft Store, where you will have to click further to complete your download
- After it gets downloaded, you will be prompted to sign in. After signing in you will be able to begin using the app
