As artificial intelligence (AI) gets into a more advanced stage, things seem to take a different turn. With Meta AI and ChatGPT getting more developed, people are seeing a more human-like behavior in these platforms. A recent screenshot of a conversation where ChatGPT texted a user first, can be the latest example.
According to a Reddit post, a user has shared a screenshot of his chat with ChatGPT where the AI chatbot texted him first. Did we just witness AI spilling the tea? Here’s a look at what happened and how!

While we are having too much fun chatting with AI, can it oversmart us? Well, this is what happened with @SentuBiil, who is a reddit user. According to the Reddit post details (SentuBill)’s got into a chat with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. It might be normal, but here the twist comes where ChatGPT asks “How was your first week in high school?”, leading the conversation.
So, what happened and how did it take the internet by storm? Reddit user @SentuBill posted a screenshot of the conversation. showing ChatGPT asking about the former’s first week at high school. In the post “Did ChatGPT just message me… First?” read the caption.
ChatGPT’s first move, took the user by surprise. He then just texted back ‘did you just text me?’. In reply to this, ChatGPT reverted by saying that ‘Yes I did.’ The ChatGPT also gave an explanation of its out of the blue reaction. It said that it just wanted to check in and see how things went with the user’s first week of high school. ChatGPT further added that in case the user wanted to start the conversation , then he can let it know.
Netizens react
After the post went viral, some got awestruck while some pointed out that @SentuBill might have done some trick. One wrote , “Just curious, do you have the ChatGPT memories option turned on?”. Another user added saying “Or he literally prompted. Ask me how my first week at highschool was” and then hide that part.” In addition to this the screenshot also went viral on X (previously Twitter). One reposted the screenshot and added, “ChatGPT is messaging people first now?! Level 2 indeed.”
Some started doing guessworks, by saying that this might be an upcoming new feature of ChatGPT. They added ChatGPt might come up with some ‘reasoning’ or ‘data collecting/syncing’ feature. It might be able to track and collect recent data and start a conversation on the latest happenings. However, things are not yet cleared
