As the stage is all set for Apple WWDC 2024, Apple might come up with an iOS 18 security update. It looks like Apple might be hinting at some of the key upgrades that iPhone owners can look forward to.
According to MacRumors, there’s going to be a new security feature that’ll enable you to lock individual apps behind Face ID (or Touch ID, or a passcode), in addition to the main screen lock.
Apple iOS updates!
Experts suggest that the proposed new feature can give you the option to lock built-in iPhone apps such Mail, Messages, Notes, Phone, Photos, Safari, Settings, and more.
The suggested update can help you with providing an extra layer of privacy and security. It is likely that the feature will also work with Touch ID or an iPhone’s passcode, similar to the unlocking of the phone with Face ID authentication.
It is believed that this feature is already available in limited form on the iPhone, as reported by MacRumors. Also third-party apps such as WhatsApp and PayPal seem to have introduced the feature earlier. This protection can also be enabled through a custom shortcut.
Apple updates so far!
As we know Apple already allows certain content to be locked behind Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode, such as notes in the Notes app and photos in the “Recently Deleted” and “Hidden” albums in the Photos app.
This new iOS 18 feature is expected to take things further by allowing apps to be locked entirely, even if the iPhone is unlocked overall.
Furthermore, MacRumors also hinted that apparently, the dark mode that was introduced back in 2019 with iOS 13 will be ‘extended to cover the home screen app icons.’
