In a landmark new move that bolsters AI access in India, Airtel has partnered with Perplexity AI to offer access to free generative AI services for all its subscribers. Airtel’s mobile, DTH and broadband subscribers will now be eligible to avail the subscription to Perplexity Pro membership, thereby getting all the premium benefits at no extra cost.
For those who are unaware, Perplexity is an AI-based search engine that scans the web for answers and uses generative AI to come up with conversational style answers and solutions. While the free version of Perplexity is usually enough for basic search needs, the Pro version adds all the bells and whistles, thereby making it an ideal tool for students and researchers.
As part of the new deal, Bharti Airtel will now offer access to Perplexity Pro for free to its existing customers.

– All Airtel subscribers, including mobile, DTH and broadband users, will get free access to Perplexity Pro.
– Note that Airtel is only offering a 12-month subscription to Perplexity Pro. Once the validity ends, users will need to purchase it separately.
– The Perplexity Pro subscription costs Rs 17,000 per year when purchased separately.

While the free version of Perplexity offers basic AI-powered search and answer experience, the Pro version provides enhanced capabilities for professionals, students and heavy users. Perplexity Pro allows more daily Pro searches per user, access to advanced AI models like GPT 4.1, Claude, and the ability to select specific models. The Pro subscription also offers deep research, image generation, file uploads and analysis.
Users will also get access to Perplexity Labs, a recently launched unique tool that allows the generation of tables, spreadsheets, dashboards and web apps.

For all those who want to enjoy access to Perplexity Pro, they need to log in to the Airtel Thanks App and follow the steps to activate the membership. Note that Airtel offers only 12 months of subscription from the date of activation.
- Users should log in to the Airtel Thanks app and look for the Perplexity Pro subscription banner advertisement.
- Next, click on the banner and proceed to activate the 12-month subscription plan.
- Airtel will apply the promo code and ask you to log into your Perplexity account in the window to activate the offer.
- Once activated, you will need to download the Perplexity app from the Google Play Store and login with your credentials to start using Perplexity Pro.
