Airtel has introduced a new prepaid recharge plan with a long-term validity to combat the onslaught by Reliance Jio. The telecom company has introduced a Rs 995 recharge plan that comes with a validity of 180 days and benefits the customers with 1GB 3G/4G data per month, unlimited calls – local, national, and roaming, and 100 SMSes per day. The Airtel Rs 995 recharge plan is now available to purchase from Airtel website and myAirtel app in select circles.

The Airtel Rs 995 recharge plan will offer 1GB 3G/4G data to the customers monthly, in addition to unlimited local, national, and roaming outgoing calls for a long-term validity of 180 days, i.e., for six months. The customers will also get 100 SMSes per day for the given validity period. This plan will take on Jio’s Rs 999 recharge plan that comes with 60GB unlimited 4G data, where the data speed is reduced to 64kbps on exhaustion of the data limit. The Jio Rs 999 recharge plan comes with unlimited VoLTE calls and 100 SMSes per day, in addition to free complimentary access to Jio apps.

It is worth noting that this plan only provides 5G data to the customers and does not come with any unlimited calling or SMS benefits. The telco also increased the data limit on most of its unlimited plans to 1.4GB from 1GB earlier. The plans worth Rs 199, Rs 448, and Rs 509 now offer 1.4GB data along with unlimited calls and 100 SMSes per day for the respective validity of 28, 82, and 90 days.
