Gauri Khan, known for designing celebrity homes, has launched a new restaurant in Mumbai called Soraia. It opened on December 4 at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and has been created by restaurateurs Dhaval Udeshi, Afsana Verma and Amit Verma, with interiors designed by Gauri herself. The restaurant can seat around 200 people and has already become a popular spot because of its stylish look and warm atmosphere.

A day after the launch, Curly Tales shared a YouTube tour of Soraia, giving people a closer look at its European-inspired interiors, soft lighting and peaceful vibe.

A design inspired by European charm

Soraia has both indoor and outdoor seating, and the two spaces flow smoothly into each other. The idea behind the design is to make the place feel like a European glasshouse in the evening. The colours are warm, with espresso tones, soft velvet fabrics and detailed textures that make the space feel cosy yet elegant.

The menu offers a mix of dishes from India and Europe. It includes items like Shiso-Leaf Chaat, Honey Nut Brie and Forest Mushroom Risotto. The food is meant to take diners on a journey, from Indian coastlines to European countryside flavours.

A welcoming outdoor space with calm lighting

The outdoor area is one of the most attractive areas of Soraia. As soon as you walk in, you see a water fountain right in the middle. The tables are placed around it, with soft, warm lights that make the space feel calm and relaxing. There’s also a small glasshouse in one corner for people who want a quieter and more private place to enjoy their meal.

A clean and classy indoor space

Inside, the restaurant has a clean and classy look. The mix of wood and white stone makes the place feel bright and fresh. The Omakase cocktail bar sits at the centre and adds a nice, stylish touch. Comfortable tufted leather sofas make the seating cosy, and the rain-tree-inspired pillars bring in a natural feel. These pillars also remind people of the old structure that once stood here, blending the old and new in a simple, beautiful way.

With its warm atmosphere, pretty interiors and mix of global flavours, Soraia offers a fresh dining experience in Mumbai.
