In the evening, devotees, along with their family members would head to banks of water bodies to perform the significant puja rituals. Standing knee-deep in water, those keeping the fast will pray for the well-being of their children, spouses and other family members. Prasad of Thekua, Rasiya, fruits, coconut, banana, daab nimbu, and others are filled in the soops (wooden baskets), and carried along.
After offering Sandhya or Sanjhiya Arghya, the fast would continue till the sunrise time on Tuesday, October 28, when morning Arghya would be offered against the rising sun. The Chhath Puja prasad is distributed at the end of all rituals on the last day of the festival.

Chhath Puja started on October 25 with Nahay Khay rituals. On this day, devotees take the holy dip and take the sacred water along with them for preparation of prasad. Kaddu, Chana dal, and rice is prepared and consumed on this day. The second day is called Kharna when a single meal of Rasiya Roti is eaten and after that 36-hour of fasting begins.
