TrucksUp, AI-based logistics aggregator platform claims to revolutionising India’s trucking industry, is on a mission to improve the lives of truck owners and drivers through innovative solutions and a personalised approach. Co-founded by Sarthak Elwadhi, the platform claims to transforming the logistics sector by addressing key challenges such as underutilisation of assets, lack of access to technology and the absence of support systems for small fleet owners. In an exclusive interview Elwadhi shared the inspiration behind TrucksUp and the company’s vision to reshape the future of trucking in India.

How did your experience in Australia shape your vision for TrucksUp in India?

My experiences abroad allowed me to observe the standards of living and quality of amenities provided to overseas truck drivers, shaping my perspective on the improvements needed within the Indian trucking ecosystem. In India, truck owners, including single vehicle owners are hardworking individuals who earn a decent livelihood, allowing them to lead a reasonably comfortable life. When I returned to India, I immersed myself in understanding key challenges faced by drivers, spending time on the ground, loading points, and other bustling hubs frequented by truck drivers.

How does TrucksUp help small fleet owners and independent truckers transition to a tech-driven model?

Nearly 80-85% of India’s trucks are owned by individuals with fewer than 10 trucks. These owners prefer to run their businesses in ways that are comfortable for them, often avoiding technology or modern systems. Many are unaware of optimal insurance options or efficient routes, and lack access to timely, critical information.

TrucksUp aims to bridge this gap by making technology both accessible and trustworthy. Our platform is designed to streamline operations for truck owners. We act as matchmakers between shippers and truck owners, managing truck availability and identifying high-demand loads. The platform enables shippers to access over 200,000 trucks with just a click, enhancing operational efficiency and profitability for truck owners.

How does your AI-driven platform align with the National Logistics Policy and improve trucking efficiency?

The National Logistics Policy aims to reduce logistics costs in India by improving asset utilization, a goal that TrucksUp aligns with. Asset utilisation is a major challenge in India’s trucking industry, especially with large trucks operating on interstate routes. These trucks are often underutilised, either waiting for loads or running empty to get the loads.

By increasing the utilisation rate of these trucks—potentially raising it to 80-85%—TrucksUp can drive a transformative impact not just for the industry, but for the nation as a whole. The company’s AI-powered platform helps truck owners maximize income by reducing idle time and improving asset efficiency, addressing one of the key goals of the National Logistics Policy.

What steps has TrucksUp taken to improve truck drivers’ earnings, safety, and overall quality of life?

From vehicle purchases to finding loads, setting up insurance and even offering smart fuel cards, TrucksUp provides comprehensive services. For truck owners who may not have much technical expertise, our most valuable offering is the human touch.

The company has built a team of trained professionals available all day to guide users, ensuring a personal connection with customers. We’re not just serving them as customers, but as partners. We’re committed to supporting them throughout their journey.

What’s next for TrucksUp? What key innovations can we expect in the next few years?

We see significant growth in the used truck market, which is currently unorganised and fragmented. The used truck market in India is approximately equal in size to the new truck market, but the organized sector is rapidly growing. Demand for transparency, trust, and technology-driven solutions is driving this change.

To address the challenges in this space, TrucksUp has launched TrucksHub, a marketplace for used trucks aimed at bringing order and transparency to the industry. TrucksHub simplifies the process of buying, selling, and exchanging trucks, making it more convenient than ever. The platform also offers comprehensive support, including financing, insurance, GPS, FastTags, and smart fuel cards.

In the coming years, Sarthak expects TrucksHub to revolutionise the used truck market by meeting the growing demand for efficient, transparent, and tech-driven solutions.

As TrucksUp continues to innovate and expand, it remains focused on supporting the backbone of India’s logistics industry—its truck owners and drivers. By combining technology with a human touch, TrucksUp is well-positioned to lead the transformation of India’s trucking ecosystem.
