Tata Motors electric buses have achieved an intersting landmark. Collectively the fleet of 3,100 electric buses that provides public transport across 10 cities has completed 25 crore kilometers. The distance covered is equivalent to traversing the circumference of the earth over 6,200 times.
The electric buses have covered an average of 200 km/day and contributed to the reduction of air pollution and offered greener mass mobility in each city. The combined effort of the electric buses fleet has helped save about 1.4 lakh tonnes of CO2 emission.
Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, CEO and MD, TML Smart City Mobility Solutions, said, “An impressive 15 crore km were covered in just the last 12 months, confirming a growing preference for sustainable urban mobility solutions, both by commuters and the state transport undertakings.”
Tata Motors’ fleet of electric buses operate in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Jammu, Srinagar, Lucknow, Guwahati and Indore. The CV major leads the market share in the electric buse segment and elecyric bus sales are up 6% YoY in Q3FY25. Tata Motors expects this sales momentum to continue.
Speaking after the announcement of December sales, Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors said, “Continuing its strong momentum, the Passenger Carrier segment witnessed a 30% YoY sales growth in Q3 FY25, with healthy demand from State Transport Undertakings (STUs) and the Staff/Tour & Travel segments.”
Tata Motors’ electric buses feature air suspension, hydraulic lifts for disabled access, and ergonomic seating, available in 9 and 12-meter configurations, blending advanced technology with strong performance.
