Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Highlights: Domestic indices trimmed some losses but ended the session broadly in red. The NSE Nifty 50 fell 121.15 points or 0.68% to 17,706.85 and BSE Sensex tanked 520.25 points or 0.86% to 59,910.75. In sectoral indices, Bank Nifty rose 130 points or 0.31% to 42,262.55 and Nifty IT plunged 1,334.6 points or 4.71% to 27,008.20. The top gainers on Nifty 50 were Nestle India, Power Grid, State Bank of India, Britannia and Coal India while the top losers were Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, Larsen & Toubro and NTPC.

Investors to focus on March WPI inflation data

“Weakness in Asian markets and SGX Nifty could weigh on local indices in early trades Monday after US gauges ended lower on Friday due to hawkish Fed tone and dismal retail sales data. Also denting sentiments are TCS & Infosys' Q4 results which missed street estimates. Investors would also focus on March inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) which is likely to come out at 3.85%,” said Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd.

Balrampur Chini Mills, Delta Corp under F&O ban today

The National Stock Exchange has Balrampur Chini Mills and Delta Corp securities on its F&O ban list for 17 April. According to the NSE, stocks are prohibited in the F&O sector when they have exceeded 95% of the market-wide position limit (MWPL). During the F&O ban period, no new positions are permitted for F&O contracts in that stock.

Foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth a net Rs 221.85 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) sold equities worth a net Rs 273.68 crore on 13 April, according to the provisional data available on the NSE.

Crude prices rise

Oil prices edged up on Monday, supported by OPEC+’s plans to cut more output, while investors eyed Chinese economic data for signs of a demand recovery by the world’s No. 2 oil consumer. Brent crude futures nudged 17 cents higher to $86.48 a barrel by 0144 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was at $82.66 a barrel, up 14 cents.
