5-year persistency of LIC’s retail policyholders declines
LIC's persistency of individual policies has been declining over the past five years, with the 61st-month persistency ratio reaching a five-year low of 46.88% in FY26. This means that less than half of policyholders continued paying premiums through the fifth policy year. The insurer is taking measures to improve persistency, but the focus on non-participating products.
