Stock markets likely to open higher on positive global cues

The BSE Sensex and NSE NIfty are likely to open in green on Tuesday tracking SGX Nifty and other Asian markets.

At 8.29 am (IST), SGX Nifty was trading 0.18 per cent higher than its previous close.

Asian markets were mixed, Hang Seng index and Shanghai index were up 1.05 per cent and 0.47 per cent at 24,778.42 and 3,944.49, respectively. Nikkei 225 index was tradiing 0.23 per cent down at 20,761.03.

On Monday, the benchmark BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty declined 0.48 per cent and 0.46 per cent to 28,101.72 and 8,525.60, respectively.

Companies like Tata steel, NMDC, Jubilant, State Bank of India, Apollo Tyres, Hathway Cable & Datacom, Sun Pharma, Reliance Power, Adani Enterprises, Godrej Industries and Prestige Estates may announce their earnings on Tuesday.

On Wall Street, the Dow had ended Monday with gains of 1.39 per cent, while the S&P 500 climbed 1.28 per cent and the Nasdaq 1.16 per cent.
