Gold and silver prices saw a jump of almost a per cent compared to yesterday after China is likely to weaken its currency Yuan next year to support the economy. The gold rate in Delhi was Rs 78,820/10 grams on December 12 while the silver was quoted for Rs 95,430/kg.

“The upcoming US CPI data, set to release this evening, holds significant importance as it will shape market expectations for the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision in next week’s policy meeting. In MCX, gold is expected to trade within a range of Rs 77,400–Rs 79,250, with volatility likely to remain elevated ahead of the data release,” said Jateen Trivedi, Vice President and Research Analyst of Commodity and Currency at LKP Securities.

Gold and silver rates today, December 12

The 24-carat gold rate in India was quoted for a price of Rs 78,960 per 10 grams on December 12. The rate for 24-carat gold per gram is Rs 7,896. While the rate of 22-carat gold was Rs 72,380 per 10 grams.

The price of 24-carat gold has risen 3.3% in the last seven days. It has increased by 3.1% in the last ten days. The silver is available to Indian customers today at a price of Rs 95,590 per kilogram. 

“China is likely to weaken Yuan next year to support its economy as Trump’s tariff threats loom large. This development is somewhat positive for the yellow metal. Gold is expected to correct a bit lower before the US CPI report as traders turn cautious; however, dip buying is the preferred strategy for a possible target of $2722/$2750 in the coming days,” said  Praveen Singh, Associate Vice President of Fundamental Currencies and Commodities at Mirae Asset Sharekhan.

The Gold rate in Mumbai is Rs 78,960/10 grams today. On December 11, the gold was available for Rs 78,320/10 grams. A week back, on December 05, gold was sold for Rs 76,380/10 grams.
