There has been a flurry of order wins this week spanning across railways and renewable power sector. Railway companies such as Jupiter Wagons and Kernex Microsystems bagging major government contracts to strengthen and modernise key components of the network. In the Renewable Energy & Green Infra segment, Reliance Infrastructure and VA Tech Wabag bagged major solar projects. Here is a look at a major order win this week.

Jupiter Wagons to power Vande Bharat with Rs 215 crore project

Jupiter Wagons’ unlisted material subsidiary, Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory, received a Letter of Intent worth Rs 215 crore for supplying 5,376 wheelsets to the Vande Bharat train project. The order includes 2,688 motor wheelsets and 2,688 trailer wheelsets, marking a major boost to JWL’s role in India’s high-speed rail ecosystem.

As part of its expansion plans, Jupiter Wagons is also setting up a Rs 2,500 crore manufacturing facility in Odisha to scale up production capacity to one lakh forged wheelsets annually by 2027, reducing import dependence and strengthening domestic rail infrastructure.

KEC bag Rs 151 crore West Central Railway contract for KAVACH deployment

Kernex Microsystems, in consortium with KEC International, has bagged a Rs 151.41 crore contract from West Central Railway for deploying KAVACH, India’s indigenous automatic train protection (ATP) system, on Aug 19. The project will be executed over 600 days and covers sections between Itarsi–Khandwa and Bina–Ruthiyai in the Bhopal Division.

The scope includes installation of KAVACH on a UHF backbone along with optical fiber cable (OFC) route diversity, aimed at enhancing railway safety and operational efficiency. The win strengthens Kernex’s role in supporting Indian Railways’ push for modernising train safety systems with indigenous technology.

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Infra bags solar and storage project from NHPC

In the Renewable Energy & Green Infra segment, Reliance Infrastructure received a Letter of Award from NHPC on Aug 19. The award is for setting up a 390 MW interstate transmission system-connected solar power project coupled with a 780 MWh battery energy storage system. Once commissioned, the project will add 700 MWp of solar DC capacity to Reliance Group’s portfolio, further strengthening its position as a leader in integrated solar-plus-storage solutions.

The project, awarded at a tariff of Rs 3.13 per unit, was part of an NHPC tender that drew strong industry interest and was oversubscribed nearly four times. With this win, Reliance Group’s clean energy pipeline expands to over 3 GWp of solar capacity and 3.5 GWh of storage, making it the largest player in India’s solar-plus-BESS segment.

VA Tech Wabag bags Rs 46.5 crore order for Hyderabad solar cell plant

On Aug 21, VA Tech Wabag bagged a Rs 46.5 crore order from RenewSys India to provide integrated water management solutions for its upcoming 2 GW solar cell manufacturing plant in Hyderabad. The contract covers the design, supply, and installation of an ultrapure water system, an effluent treatment plant, and a zero liquid discharge system, to be completed within 11 months.

The deal marks the company’s entry into the solar manufacturing sector, strengthening its presence in high-growth areas such as solar, green hydrogen, and semiconductors.

Other major orders are bagged by Apollo Micro Systems, Dynacons Systems & Solutions, SPML Infra, and Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works (KMEW), which have all announced multi-crore contracts spanning defence projects, digital banking solutions, urban water supply, and port dredging.

Apollo Micro Systems bags Rs 25.12 crore defence contracts

On Aug 21, Apollo Micro Systems has emerged as the lowest bidder for defence contracts worth Rs 25.12 crore from DRDO and defence PSUs. The company said the orders are part of its regular business operations and reflect its growing engagement with India’s defence sector.

Dynacons Systems bags Rs 51.28 crore NABARD-backed order

On Aug 20, Dynacons Systems & Solutions secured an order worth Rs 51.28 crore from state and district cooperative banks under NABARD’s initiative to implement an advanced Core Banking as a Service (CBaaS) solution and allied applications. The five-year project involves migrating NABARD’s core banking solution to Finacle 10.2.25 on Dynacons Cloud, covering hardware, software, middleware, and end-to-end testing.

The scope also includes data migration, mock runs, SIT/UAT support, go-live assistance, and post-implementation maintenance with dedicated onsite resources.

SPML Infra bags Rs 1,073 crore Indore water supply project

On Aug 19, SPML Infra, India’s leading water infrastructure company, won a Rs 1,073 crore contract from Indore Municipal Corporation to augment the city’s water supply system under the AMRUT 2.0 mission. The project includes a 400 MLD water treatment plant, a 1,650 MLD intake and raw water pumping system, booster pumping stations, a 22 km transmission pipeline, and a 132/33 kv power substation.

The EPC work is to be completed in 30 months, followed by a 10-year operation and maintenance contract. Once implemented, the project will significantly enhance Indore’s water infrastructure, ensuring safe and reliable drinking water supply to more than 2 million residents.

Knowledge Marine wins Rs 28 crore dredging order at Pondicherry Port

On Aug 18 , Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works (KMEW) has won a Rs 28.32 crore work order from Dredging Corporation of India for maintenance dredging at Pondicherry Port during 2024-25. The three-month contract, extendable by one month, involves deploying a shallow draft trailing suction hopper dredger to clear around 2,00,000 cubic meters from the port’s mouth, entrance channel, and sand trap areas to ensure safe vessel movement and improved accessibility.

This marks KMEW’s maiden project at Pondicherry Port and its eighth contract from Dredging Corporation of India in the last four years. The company said it will use its in-house dredger fleet to execute the project efficiently without major capital expenditure, further strengthening its presence in India’s maritime infrastructure sector.
