Indian equity benchmarks closed Thursday’s trade in the green. The Nifty 50 ended the day 48 points or 0.18% higher at 26,033, while the BSE Sensex surged 158 points or 0.19% to end at 85,265.
The Nifty Bank settled 60 points or 0.10% lower at 59,288. The small-cap and mid-cap stocks closed the trade on a lower note. The BSE Midcap finished 90 points or 0.19% lower at 46,522. The BSE Smallcap finished 163 points or 0.32% lower at 51,438.

Indices in intraday trade
The indices closed the trade on a lower note. During the session, out of 3,214 trading stocks, 1,381 advanced, while 1,746 declined, and 87 remained unchanged. Today, 25 stocks hit a fresh 52-week high. Meanwhile, 208 stocks touched a new 52-week low.
Top gainers
Tech Mahindra was the top gainer in the Nifty 50 in Thursday’s session, closing 1.5% higher. It was followed by HDFC Life Insurance, TCS, SBI Life Insurance, and Bharat Electronics.
Top losers
IndiGo’s shares were the biggest losers in today’s trade, declining 2.4%. It was followed by Reliance Industries, Hindalco Industries, Maruti Suzuki, and Titan were the only losers.
