PTC Industries: 19.70% – PTC Industries, a leading player in the defence industry, has witnessed strong growth driven by the commissioning of a Vaccum Arc Remelting (VAR) furnace to produce aerospace-grade titanium. This, coupled with a positive industry outlook, has fueled significant investor interest and propelled the stock’s performance.   

Tanla Platforms: 11.62%—Tanla Platforms, a major player in the cloud communications space, has delivered impressive year-to-date returns. According to news reports, the stock has risen significantly on high volumes. However, the share price of Tanae Platforms has corrected a bit after the company reported its third-quarter net profit in FY25. The company’s strong market position and robust order book have contributed to its impressive YTD returns.

Authum Investment: 10.67% – Authum Investment, an investment company, has seen its portfolio companies deliver strong performance, driving significant appreciation in its stock value. The stock has been on a winning spree after the Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the proposed acquisition of a 72.8% stake in Prataap Snacks Ltd.

Maharashtra Seamless: 8.46% – Maharashtra Seamless is a leading manufacturer of steel pipes and tubes. The stock of MSL has given a return of 0.8% in the last five trading sessions. The share price of Maharashtra Seamless has seen a lot of volatility in the past six months, falling 1.2%.

Clean Science and Technology: 8.43% – Clean Science and Technology, a speciality chemicals manufacturer, has witnessed strong growth which came after Clean Fino-Chem (CFCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Clean Science and Technology, started the commercial production of DHDT in a dedicated production block.

BSE 500 Index- The winner’s pack and outlook for 2025

On average, the list of top 10 performers on BSE 500 YTD indicates that these stocks have yielded returns in high single-digit or double digits as well. Apart from the top 5 performers, Century Ply,  ABB Power, Adani Wilmar, Minda Corp, SJVN and Bombay Burmah also clocked smart gains. Most of these belong to the power and manufacturing sector. 

In case you are wondering about the right investment strategy now, Nilesh Shah of MD at Kotak Mahindra Asset Management has highlighted investors need to be prepared for volatility in 2025. Speaking to Financial Express.com in December 2024, he added that valuations hold the key, “The idea is to buy in stocks which will outperform the market. And by and large, the thumb rule is that if you’re buying stocks which are cheap or reasonably valued, you are likely to see market outperformance.”
