Axis Bank on Tuesday recorded its third quarter profit at Rs 6493.36 crore, up 4.6 per cent in comparison to Rs 6209.37 crore during the corresponding quarter of last year. The bank’s Net Interest Income (NII) for the quarter grew by 9 per cent on-year to Rs 12,532 crore and the Net Interest Margin (NIM) for Q3FY24 stood at 4.01 per cent. (Read More)

Three employees of Western Railways lost their lives yesterday when they had gone to attend signalling point issues which had failed. They were run over by a passing local train between Vasai Road & Naigaon on the UP slow line and died on the spot. Western Railway has ordered an inquiry, the Western Railway CPRO said in a statement.
Russian car-sharing service Delimobil said on Tuesday it would hold an initial public offering (IPO) on the Moscow Exchange in late January or early February, issuing mainly new shares representing up to 10% of the company’s capital. A military plane belonging to the Myanmar Army skidded off runway in Mizromm’s Lengpui airport on Tuesday. Around 8 people were injured in the incident. According to the Mizoram DGP, the plane from the Burmese Army “crashed” at Lengpui airport. The official said that there were 14 people on board along with the pilot. Swedish telecoms equipment maker Ericsson said on Tuesday it appointed Lars Sandstrom as its new chief financial officer, replacing long-time company veteran Carl Mellander. Sandstrom will join the company on April 1, and be based in Sweden, Ericsson said in a statement. Shares of India‘s ICICI Bank hit a record 1,059.4 rupees on Tuesday after its third-quarter profit beat estimates on robust loan growth and margins met expectations. The private lender rose as much as 5% in the session and was the sole stock posting gains on the Nifty Bank index, which was down 0.7%. ICICI’s performance is in sharp contrast to that of larger rival HDFC Bank, whose shares declined nearly 14% over the past five sessions after margins declined due to rising cost of deposits and intense competition. The Indian stock market has pipped Hong Kong to become the fourth-highest equity market globally, Bloomberg reported.
