Tata Motors has big plans for the next couple of years as far as passenger vehicle (PV) and electric vehicle (EV) segments are concerned. It is a known fact that Tata’s PV business has seen tremendous growth in the last few years with the launch of new-gen cars such as Tiago, Tigor, Nexon, Punch, Harrier and Safari.
At the same time, Tata Motors has taken the position of market leader in the four-wheeler EV space with all-electric models such as Tiago EV, Nexon EV, and Punch EV driving growth for the Pune-based carmaker. And Tata is now gearing up to introduce more new electric cars in the next couple of years which will accentuates its position of market leader in the EV space.
4 new EVs from Tata Motors by FY2026
From the latest investor’s presentation, we get to know that Tata Motors will introduce four all-new EVs by FY2026. The first two— Curvv EV and Harrier EV will be launched in the current fiscal year. Although Tata is yet to reveal an exact launch timeline, we expect the company to launch the Curvv coupe electric SUV in the upcoming festive season. On the other hand, the Harrier EV could hit the Indian roads early next year.

The next in line will be Sierra EV and Avinya EV for FY2026. Concepts of all four models have already been presented at public forums like Auto Expo in the last couple of years. Tata has confirmed it will leverage the Acti.ev and the EMA architectures for its upcoming fully electric cars. The former is expected to underpin more mass-market EVs while the latter will make its base for upcoming premium EVs from Tata Motors.
Curvv.ev, Harrier.ev, Sierra.ev based on Acti.ev
Earlier Tata Motors had revealed that Curvv and Sierra concepts will spawn ICE as well as fully-electric powertrains. As for the all-electric Harrier, an ICE derivative of the mid-size SUV is already on sale in the market. In fact, the Harrier EV will be based on a heavily re-engineered Omega platform and use the brand’s acti.ev architecture.
While the exact powertrain details are still under wraps, Tata has confirmed that like the Punch EV, the Acti.ev architecture will support vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) capabilities. Test mules of both Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev have already been spied on multiple occasions in the last few years. We still await more details about the Sierra EV but we expect it to be based on the Acti.ev architecture.
Avinya to be spawn multiple EVs
According to a recent report by Autocar India, Vivek Srivatsa, chief commercial officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, confirmed that Avinya won’t be a single model but instead will be a new all-electric brand of premium cars and SUVs. The Avinya range of EVs will leverage the modular EMA architecture derived from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).

Localisation of the EMA platform will help Tata keep the cost of the Avinya range of EVs competitive. Recently, Tata Motors announced local assembly of the upcoming new-gen JLR models Velar, Evoque and Discovery Sport at Tata’s upcoming new plant in Tamil Nadu, for which the company has committed an investment of Rs 9,000 crore. The Avinya range will be based on Tata’s Gen 3 EV architecture comprising the born-electric EMA skateboard platform.
