Tata Nexon is the first sub-sour metre SUV/ crossover launched by Tata Motors. The Nexon was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo as a concept and the production vehicle surprisingly bears almost the same design. The Tata Nexon is offered with both petrol and diesel engines mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Both engines develop a healthy output of around 108 hp but the diesel unit develops more torque. The Tata Nexon comes with some first-in-segment features such as an infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink. The Tata Nexon will now be sold alongside other Tata cars such as the Nano, Bolt, Zest, Tiago, Tigor, Sumo, Safari and Hexa.

As part of an impressive electronics package, the Tata Nexon also gets three driving modes, namely; Eco, Sport and City, which is a first in its segment. The Nexon also gets a cooled and illuminated glove box, multiple utility spaces including door frame holders that drain out any fluids, without letting them entering the cabin like in the case of a wet umbrella, which can dampen leave a fair amount of water behind.
The petrol engine in the Nexon is a 1.2 litre unit, while the diesel unit displaces 1.5 litre. Both engines are turbocharged and develop a similar output of 108 hp but the diesel unit develops 260 Nm of torque, 70 Nm more than the petrol's 190 Nm. Both engines are mated to a six-speed manual transmission, which offers easy and smooth shifts.
