When the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh meets the leaders of India Inc on Monday to discuss measures to tide over the global financial crisis, there would be some grumbling outside. Industry sources say there?s heartburn among the who?s who of India Inc over being omitted from the meeting.
The prominent indust-rialists, who are members of the PM?s council on trade and industry, not being invited are: Bajaj Auto chairman Rahul Bajaj, Godrej group chief Jamshyd N Godrej, Hero group?s Sunil Kant Munjal, RPG?s chairman emeritus RP Goenka, National Manufac-turing Competitiveness Council chairman V Krishnamurthy, TVS group?s Venu Srinivasan and M&M chairman Keshub Mahindra.
Prominent invitees are: Tata group?s Ratan Tata, RIL?s Mukesh Ambani, ADAG?s Anil Ambani, M&M?s Anand Mahindra, Bharat Forge?s Baba Kalyani, HDFC?s Deepak Parekh, ICICI Bank?s KV Kamath, DLF?s KP Singh or Rajiv Singh, Infosys? Nandan Nilekani, AV Birla group?s, Kumarmangalam Birla, Bharti Enterprises Sunil Mittal, Jaypee group?s Jayprakash Gaur, ITC chairman YC Deveshwar, Ficci president Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Assoch-am president Sajjan Jindal.
Industry sources said the industrialists who are on the PM?s council should have been invited. ?This is probably one of the biggest meeting being convened by the government amidst one of the biggest financial crisis. The government should not have omitted the key industrialists??, said an industry veteran.
