The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty closed lower on Wednesday after being range-bound for most of the session, weighed down by weak European markets and caution ahead of derivatives contracts expiry on Thursday. Sensex cracked below 26,000-level and fell 119.45 points to 25,960.03, while Nifty dropped 32.70 points to end at 7,896.25.

United Spirits: Stocks of the company were 2.40 per cent down at Rs 2911 after it said that its networth has eroded by more than 50 per cent of its peak networth due to a host of reasons, including provisions on advances to its erstwhile promoter group firm United Breweries (Holdings) Ltd. Later, the scrip settled 2.08 per cent down at 2920.30.

Kalapataru Power Transmission Ltd: Stocks of the company closed 1.07 per cent up at Rs 258.70 after HDFC Mutual Fund increased its stake in KPTL by 2.34 per cent to 7.38 per cent after acquiring its shares from the open market.

IDBI Bank: Stocks of the public sector lender were trading 1.11 per cent up at Rs 90.80 after it said that the government has infused Rs 2,229 crore into the bank in lieu of preferential allotment of shares. It said the said amount has been received on the account of IDBI Bank on Tuesday. Later, the scrip settled 0.45 per cent up at Rs 90.20.

Steel Strips Wheels: Shares of the company stocks closed 2.74 per cent up at Rs 438.70 after the company announced that it has commissioned a state of the art wider hot rolled coils slitting line covering all the grades of Mild Steel and High Tensile Steel with a maximum width of 1650 mm and thickness in the range of 2mm to 8 mm. This facility has come up in its Dappar plant where it consumes the most steel.

Dr Reddy’s: Shares of the pharma major were trading 1.86 per cent up at Rs 3160.05 (12.23 pm) after the company announced the re-launch of its Esomeprazole Magnesium delayed-release capsules. The share price of the company closed 0.62 per cent up at Rs 3121.40.

IFCI: Shares of the company closed 1.67 per cent up at Rs 27.35 after it sold partial stake in National Stock Exchange (NSE) of about 0.17 per cent, worth Rs 29.63 crore.

Alphageo (India): Shares of the company closed 2.67 per cent up at Rs 606.50 after the company informed BSE that Alphageo DMCC, Dubai – a first level step down 100 per cent subsidiary of the company has been awarded a contract for provision of 2D Seismic Acquisition Services in Myanmar by Bashneft International BV of an estimated value of about $860,000. It is envisaged that the contract shall be executed during the financial year ending March 2016.
