Auto Sales May 2025 Live Updates: June is here, and auto makers will be releasing their sales figures for last month. In April 2025, most carmakers and two-wheeler manufacturers reported positive growth, some even registering their highest sales ever.
Most automakers have reported positive sales, while Mahindra’s growth has been steady, retaining its second position overall. EV sales have also been impressive, with TVS leading sales again. Here are the sales live updates.

Ather, the Bengaluru-based EV startup has registered sales of 12,840 units in May 2025. Ather also achieved a sales milestone of selling over 1 lakh Riztas since it launch in April last year. In FY25, the Rizta accounted for 58% of Ather’s sales.

In May 2025, Suzuki commenced production of its first electric scooter, the Suzuki e-ACCESS, at its Gurgaon plant. According to reports, the first batch of the e-Access has already been dispatched to selected showrooms and will be available at the rest of the dealership in a phased manner across the country.

The company further enhanced its product line-up with a new Ride Connect TFT Edition of its most popular offering, Suzuki Access and launched the OBD-2B compliant Suzuki Avenis. Parallelly, SMIPL laid the foundation stone for its new manufacturing plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana, marking expansion of its production capabilities.

Suzuki sold a total of 1,28,896 units in May 2025, reflecting a 16% growth compared to 1,11,512 units sold in May 2024. This includes domestic sales of 1,07,780 units, a 17% increase over 92,032 units sold in the domestic market in May last year. Additionally, Suzuki exported 21,116 units, up by 8% from 19,480 units exported in May 2024.

Bajaj Auto recorded a total dispatch of 3,32,370 two-wheelers in May this year. This included 1,91,412 units dispatches in the domestic market and 1,40,958 units exported to other markets. Two-wheeler sales grew by 9%, domestic sales by 2%, and exports grew by 20% YoY.
The latest launch by Royal Enfield was the updated Hunter 350 which got a set of crucial updates over the outgoing model. Th company is working on a number of new models including a new Himalayan based on a brand new 750cc platform that has been spied on a few occasions recently. More importantly, Royal Enfield will launch its first electric motorcycle – the Flying Flea C6 earlier this year.

Royal Enfield dispatched a total of 76,492 units of 350cc motorcycles in May which included domestic sales and exports. During the same month last year, Enfield rolled out 59,852 units of 350cc bikes, thus resulting in a 28% YoY growth. The company also dispatched 12,937 units of motorcycles exceeding 350cc engine capacity which has translated to a 16% YoY growth. Besides 350cc models, Royal Enfield produces 440cc, 450cc, and 650cc motorcycles.

Royal Enfield, posted a total sales volume of 89,429 units in May 2025, which resulted in a YoY growth of 26 percent. The total sales volume comprised 75,820 units of domestic sales and 13,609 units exports. The Chennai-based bikemaker reported YoY growths on both accounts, 19% in domestic and 82% in exports.

Hero MotoCorp dispatched 8361 units of Vida V2 range of electric scooters in May 2025 and 7161 units were registered in Vahaan during the same period. Hero is currently gearing up to launch its new electric scooter Vida VX2 on July 1.

Hero MotoCorp reported 507,701 units of domestic sales as per the Vahaan portal (except Telangana). During the same period last year, Hero reported 498,123 unit Vahaan sales. Thus, recording a marginal YoY growth.
May 2025 Auto sales live: Maruti Suzuki upcoming launches
Maruti Suzuki is currently gearing up to launch its first electric vehicle in India. The e Vitrar was unveiled at the Bharat Mobilty Global Expo earlier this year and is slated for a market launch in September this year. It will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, and MG ZS EV.

Maruti Suzuki exported 31,219 units in May this year as compared to 17,367 units exproted during the same period last year. This has resulted in a YoY growth of almost 80%.

Maruti Suzuki reported a total sales of 180,077 units in May 2025 which comprised domestic sales of 138,690 units, sales to other OEM of 10,168 units and exports of 31,219 units. During the same month last year, Maruti reported 146,694 units domestic sales, 10,490 units sales to other OEMs, and 17,367 units exported to other markets. Domestic sales of Maruti declined by 5.45%.

May 2025 Auto sales live: Hyundai annual maintenance shutdown
Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer, HMIL, addressed the low sales by saying there was a routine week-long biannual maintenance shutdown at the company’s Chennai manufacturing facility which affected availability of few critical models. However, he remained hopeful of a steady increase in demand for both domestic as well as international shipments with reduced uncertainty on the geo-political front and improved macro-economic situation.
May 2025 Auto sales live: Hyundai reports domestic sales of 43,861 units
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) recorded total monthly sales of 58,701 units in May 2025, comprising domestic sales of 43,861 units and export sales of 14,840 units. This is a marginal drop from 44,374 units. In comparison, Hyundai dispatched 49,151 units in the domestic during the same period last year. This translates to a YoY decline of 10.8%.
HMSI strengthened its BigWing portfolio with the launch of multiple all-new premium motorcycles. The company introduced the all-new Rebel 500, X-ADV, CB750 Hornet, CB1000 Hornet SP, and the flagship 50th Anniversary edition of Gold Wing Tour. Moreover, theE-Clutch versions of CB650R and CBR650R are also now on sale in India.

Globally, Honda reached a significant milestone by producing its 500 millionth motorcycle, marking 76 years since the company’s first mass-produced motorcycle, the Dream D-Type, was launched in 1949.
Further, HMSI announced the expansion of its production capacity by adding a new production line at its Vithalapur plant in India.
May 2025 Auto sales live: Honda sells 4.17 lakh two-wheelers
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) rolled out 4,65,115 two-wheelers in May 2025. This included domestic sales of 4,17,256 units and 47,859 units exports. HMSI’s YTD FY26 (April’25 – May’25) total sales stand at 9,45,979 units. This includes domestic sales of 8,40,155 units and 1,05,824 units exports.
In April 2025, Honda dispatched 4,22,931 two-wheelers across the country thus resulting in a MoM decline of 1.3%. In May 2024, Honda recorded domestic sales of 4,92,047 units, thus, translating to a YoY decline of 15.2%.
Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) rolled out 5,985 units in May 2025. Domestic sales of the company stood at 3,950 units and exports at 2,035 units. This is a sharp drop from 11,343 units rolled out during the same period last year where Honda sold 4,822 units in the domestic market and 6,521 units exported to foreign markets.

In April this year, Honda sold 3360 units of passenger vehicles which is a MoM growth of 17.6 percent.
JSW MG Motor India has recently launched the two new variants of India’s best-selling EV Windsor in PRO series: Essence Pro and Exclusive PRO. The MG Windsor PRO variants come with a larger 52.9 kWh battery pack, offering a certified range of 449 km. The top-spec ‘Essence PRO’ also offers premium features including Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), as well as Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging capabilities.

JSW MG Motor India reported monthly sales of 6,304 units in May 2025. This is translates to a growth of 40% over the 4510 units sold in May 2024. In April this, JSW MG Motor sold a total of 5,829 units thus resulting in a YoY growth of 8%.

Kia recently launched the Carens Clavis at a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh, ex-showroom. A significant upgrade over the pre-existing Carens, the new Clavis gets a whole lot more features. The South Korean carmaker has announced that it will launch its next vehicle in India in July this year. Although not confirmed, but we expect it to be the upcoming Carens Clavis EV.

Kia reported 22,315 passeger vehicles dispatched in the domestic market in May 2025. This marks a YoY growth of 14.43%, compared to 19,500 units sold in May 2024. In April this year, Kia reported domestic sales of 23,623 units which translates to a MoM decline of 5.5%.
May 2025 Auto sales live: Toyota registers growth in FY26
Toyota has recorded 27% growth in the first two months of FY 2025–26, rolling out 58,188 units, compared to 45,767 units in FY 2024–25. Recently, Toyota marked a significant milestone this month with the Toyota Fortuner and Legender crossing a cumulative 3 lakh units sold in India.

Around the same period, Toyota also enhanced its MPV lineup with the launch of the Innova HyCross Exclusive Edition, featuring 19 upgrades that bring added sophistication to its hybrid offering.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) rolled out a total of 30,864 cars and SUVs in May 2025. This includes 29,280 units sold in the domestic market and 1,584 units exported to foreign markets. In comparison, the Japanese carmaker sold a total of 25,273 units in May last year, thus, resulting in a 22% YoY growth.
In April 2024, Toyota sold 24,833 units in the domestic market, thus resulting in an 18% MoM growth.
May 2025 Auto sales live: Tata.ev sales remain steady
EV sales of Tata Motors remained steady with 5,685 electric cars and SUVs sent to dealerships in May 2025. Last month, this figure stood at 5,318 units. This results in a 6.9% MoM growth. In May last year, Tata sold 5,558 units, thus resullting in a 2% YoY growth.

The company is now gearing up for the launch Tata Harrier.ev in a couple of days.
May 2025 Auto sales live: Mahindra beats Tata for 2nd consecutive month
Mahindra has outsold Tata Motors in the passenger vehicle segment for the second consective. In May 2025, Mahindra sold 52,431 PVs in the domestic market, whereas Tata sold 41,557 units during the same period. In April this year, Mahindra dispatched 52,330 units as compared to Tata which rolled out 45,199 units during the same month.
Tata Motors dispatched a total of 41,557 PVs in May this year to dealerships across the country. This is a negative growth of 11% over the previous month when it recorded a volume of 46,697 units in the domestic market.
PV exports increased from 378 units in last May to 483 units this month, resulting in a YoY growth of 28 percent.
Mahindra only offers utility vehies (UVs) in the PV space. The company’s sales remained steady as compared to April when it recorded a total volume of 52,330 units in the domestic market. In May, it dispatched 52,431 units.

Last month, Mahindra pipped Hyundai to become the second-largest carmaker in India. Mahindra launched the BE 6 and XEV 9e earlier this year. The company is bow gearing up to launch another set of electric SUVs in the coming months including XEV 7e and XUV 3XO EV.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), announced that its overall auto sales for the month of May 2025 stood at 84,110 vehicles, a growth of 17%, including exports. In the Utility Vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 52,431 vehicles in the domestic market, a growth of 21% and overall, 54,819 vehicles, including exports. The domestic sales for Commercial Vehicles stood at 21,392 units.
