Electric vehicles are gaining momentum in the Indian market and 2024 is set to see several EV launches from home-grown automakers to new entrants. Here are upcoming EV launches in 2024, along with the details we know so far.
Tata Harrier EV

The Tata Nexon EV has proved itself to be a success in the Indian market, and slowly, Tata’s EV portfolio has grown, Now, the next big EV launch to watch out for from Tata Motors is the Harrier EV, which was showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year. The Harrier EV launch is expected to take place during the second half of 2024 and the vehicle is expected to offer a range of 500km.
Tata Punch
The Tata Punch is a best-seller again and is currently sold with a petrol engine with an optional CNG choice. So the next progression is electrifying the vehicle and the EV version of the Punch has been spied testing. While its specifications are not out yet, expect Tata to make an announcement soon as possibly launch the vehicle in 2023 itself.
Maruti Suzuki eVX

The Maruti Suzuki eVX was showcased at the Auto Expo this year and will be the carmaker’s first all-electric vehicle, co-developed with Toyota. The close-to-production vehicle was showcased at the recently concluded Japan Auto Show and has been spied testing as well. Expect Maruti Suzuki to launch the eVX sometime towards the end of 2024 and when launched, it will compete with the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
Hyundai Creta EV
The Hyundai Creta has been the carmaker’s most successful product in India and the launch of an all-electric Creta will further boost sales of the SUV. Expect Hyundai to launch the Creta EV sometime late next year and when launched, expect it to look similar to its ICE counterpart.
Mahindra XUV.e8

Homegrown automaker Mahindra also wants a chunk of the EV market share in India and currently has the XUV400 on sale. However, in 2024, expect the carmaker to launch the electric version of the XUV700, called the XUV.e8. It is expected to be powered by an 80kWh battery pack with two motors, one powering each axle.
Skoda Enyaq iV
The Skoda Enyaq iV will be the carmaker’s first EV offering in India, expected to launch sometime in mid-2024. The Skoda Enyaq iV will be powered by a 77kWh battery pack powering two motors, good for a 500km range on a single charge. The Enyaq iV EV will be brought to India as a CBU.
Volkswagen ID.4
Volkswagen has also ramped up its EV portfolio and is expected to launch the ID.4 in India sometime in 2024. Going by reports online, the ID.4 is expected to have the same 77kWh battery pack as the Skoda Enyaq powering two motors.
Mini Cooper SE
Mini Cooper SE will be the product of a joint development between BMW and China’s Great Wall Motor while retaining its iconic design with circular headlights and funky overall design. To be priced around Rs 60 lakh ex-showroom, the Mini Cooper SE will be powered by a 40kWh battery pack and the launch is expected sometime during the first half of 2024.
Citroen eC3 Aircross

After the launch of the Citroen eC3, the French carmaker is looking at introducing the all-electric eC3 Aircross, which is expected to have a larger battery pack compared to the eC3’s 29.2kWh pack. Also, similar to the C3 Aircross, the all-electric version is expected to be offered in 5 or 7-seater when launched sometime in 2024.
BYD Seal
BYD is the largest electric car manufacturer in the world and currently sells the Atto 3 and the E6 in India. The carmaker plans to launch the Seal, which was showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year, which is powered by an 82.5kWh battery pack that will offer a claimed range of 700km. Expect the BYD Seal to be launched in India sometime around mid-2024.
